Spring camp resumes Tuesday...

Oregon will get back at it tomorrow with their sixth spring session. Here is this week's schedule:

Tuesday, Thursday: Practices in Eugene, 8:45 am, closed to the public
Saturday: Oregon football’s open practice at Hillsboro Stadium just outside of Portland will get underway at approximately noon.

We will be at all of the above to keep you updated on the latest with practice reports and photos.

What's the deal with these non-offer, "offers"?

It seems like this is something new the last couple of years. What is the benefit for either party in having a "conditional" offer? Casey Filkins has an "offer" from Oregon, but he cannot accept the offer and make a commitment at this time. In other words, the offer only stands if the Ducks miss out on players they have rated ahead of Filkins

In fact, Casey Filkins is NOT being offered a scholarship from the University of Oregon. What they are doing is telling him that they like him as a player and may offer him a scholarship down the road, depending on how he plays, and how recruiting at his position shakes out. Why not just tell him that? Is this an everybody gets a trophy deal? Is it just the psychology of showing some half hearted love. I'm asking you to marry me with the condition that 10 other women I like more than you turn me down, So, you got THAT going for you, Mr. Filkins!

This is not a big deal, but strikes me as both funny, and unnecessary

Who's tops on your wish list?

Justin Flowe? D.J. Uiagalelei? Sav'ell Smalls? Trey Benson? Jaden Navarrette? Kendall Milton? Clark Phillips? Avantae Williams? Noah Sewell? Johnny Wilson? Darnell Washington?

What's Oregon's biggest need in 2020?

How important is it to have another strong year on the field to appeal to two or three of these top recruits?

How big do you expect the Ducks class to be, and what's your expectation for their PAC-12 and National recruiting class ranking?

Will 2020 be a letdown after a #7 finish in 2019? Or do you think Mario Cristobal and his staff will keep their recruiting momentum?

Jessica Hull

Sadly I’ve been too preoccupied to go to the Stanford Invite, even though I’ve been spending most of my days five houses from the official Stanford Campus line. I just want to make a special note that Jessica has taken off in the past 9 months. Her best event is the 1500, but she is also world class in the longer distances.
She has now entered a category that makes her a serious contender for the Bowerman Trophy.

She is currently Oregon Track’s biggest story ... and actually rivals Sabrina Ionesco as the most elite woman’s athlete on campus! Who would have predicted that a year ago? Three years ago the idea of Jessica becoming this good was not even remotely considered.

Sweet 16: Oregon vs. Virginia game thread...

I'm going to get it started now because we are hosting a Watch Party at a local brewery today and I will be on phone only there.

Tipoff is around 7:00 pm, the broadcast starts five minutes before that on TBS.

This could be a huge night for Oregon hoops knocking off an No. 1 seed. They will have to hit outside shots to do so against a Cavalier team known for packing the paint on defense.

Please join in during the game! We can use as many voices on this thread as possible.

Another 5 Star International athlete is headed to the University of Oregon in the Fall. Mathilde Rey, a high level Swiss Heptathlete from Geneva has indicated she will be arriving in Eugene during August in time to enroll as a Fall term freshman. Though she is relatively new to track and field, during the past year she has shown dramatic improvements and now is one of the top U20 Heptathletes in Europe. Both her 18 year old Outdoor Heptathlon and Indoor Pentathlon marks are slightly higher than were those of Silver Medalist Brianne Theissen Eaton as an 18 year. Tomorrow is Mathilde's 19th birthday...here's a Happy Birthday shout out from Ducks everywhere. Go Ducks!
