Bring Em Back ... Trisha King

This is a new series that is being done on Go Ducks by Rob Moseley. To my surprise and delight they start of with someone I knew from the time that she was a toddler. Trisha grew up 4 houses from where I grew up. Our mothers’ were friends and stayed in touch even after her family moved. Trisha’s home was actually on the Stanford Campus (Stanford owned the land) She used to eat dinner at our house from time to time. Trisha remains the greatest women’s high jumper of any Duck. She made the US Olympic team.
Here is her story:

Busy Tuesday...

Fairly busy day today DSA-wise with three Zoom interviews and a Level Ten Quackwatch in effect.

First will be around 10 this morning I'm going to jump on with Mark Wasikowski to talk some Duck baseball. Next will be around noon or so will be with some defensive football players.

At 3pm we have the above mentioned QW.

Finally at 7pm an interview with a football assistant but I don't know which guy yet.

We'll bring you guys those interviews once they process.

Mater Dei U.

I asked Austin Faoliu with six current Mater Dei grads on the roster and two more coming in, why is Eugene so attractive to that premium program?

"From my personal experience, I wanted to get away from Cali but not too far. It is still close to home. But another thing is Coach Cristobal and the whole coaching staff, they do a great job of making us feel at home, giving us their word. That is one of the huge things with us, especially from SoCal, can we trust the coaches. Do they have our best interests for us.

"All the kids from Mater Dei, this is the place to be. You guys come here, coaches got your back 110%. They won’t let you guys down."

2022 LB to watch

So, keep an eye on Jaylen Sneed for 2022. Rated No. 7 OLB and No. 54 overall in nation, Ducks really like him and are recruiting him harder than anyone. I know Hilton Head is a LONG way from Oregon, but he is very open to the Ducks and is giving Oregon true interest. He is going to be highly recruited and there is a long way to go, but Oregon is a real player for Sneed.

I will be in South Carolina next month and see if I can get a little bit more information while there...

Can we stop the “Pac 12 has no chance” talk?

Big 12 - out

SEC - Florida: pretender; Georgia: can’t compete with Bama, not a playoff level team; LSU: back to earth, lost a lot of talent and lost to Mizzou and a bad Leach team; the others are not contenders

ACC - UNC: done; no one else a contender

Big 10: no reason to expect a contender other than tOSU

What is the flaw in this scenario:

Clemson
Bama
tOSU
A Pac 12 team that earned it

This is not a prediction or a claim that a Pac 12 team will deserve a playoff spot. My point is simply that things have fallen into place such that a dominant Oregon or SC has as good a chance as anyone other than Clemson, Bama, and tOSU.

I don’t know if Oregon or SC will be worthy, but neither can be written off before the season starts.

Saturday Scrimmage: Initial notes...

Here are my quick Cristobal notes I took while we were talking with him just now:

120 to 130 play scrimmage covering all aspects, offense, defense and special teams

Overall common first scrimmage in terms of some good and some bad things

Wants to see "more consistency to our standard"

Both quarterbacks played pretty well

Defense is ahead of the offense as is usual at this stage of camp

No injuries than he knows of today

Linebacker corps was very good

Jamal Hill stood out to me today. Important interception

Tre Benson good

DJ Johsnon big man who can run and catch

Kayvon thibodeaux creates havoc when he is in regardless of down

Best play of the day goes to Jordon Scott splitting a double team in the A gap and stopping a short yardage situation

Johnny Johnson impressive

DLeno - Came back as a purpose driven human being.

Impressed with OL

George Moore really good camp

TJ Bass as well

Forsyth and Walk nice job leading OL

Kris Hutson has made a ton of plays out there.
