Must-See Week 7 Games
Oklahoma State (5-0) at Texas (4-2)
Saturday, 12:00 p.m. ET (FOX)
Texas will need a short memory after squandering a huge lead to rival Oklahoma last Saturday in Dallas. Even with two losses, there’s still a ton to play for in the second half of the year, including a possible shot of seeing the Sooners again in the Big 12 title game. Plus, the offense is rolling behind QB Casey Thompson, RB Bijan Robinson and WR Xavier Worthy. The Horns get a visit from Oklahoma State, one of just two undefeated teams left in the league. The Cowboys are rested and playing well on defense, but they have yet to face an opponent with nearly as much firepower as Texas.
Kentucky (6-0) at Georgia (6-0)
Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS)
Two unbeaten teams remaining in the SEC, and Kentucky is one of them. That’s a microcosm of just how unpredictable the first half of 2021 has been in college football. The Wildcats have been one of this year’s biggest surprises, beating Florida and LSU over the last two weekends. But a trip to Athens to face top-ranked Georgia represents an entirely different challenge. The Bulldogs lead the country in defense, yielding just 3.6 yards a play and 5.5 points per game. Kentucky might need points from its defense and special teams, and will definitely need to keep QB Will Levis out of third-and-long situations.
TCU (3-2) at Oklahoma (6-0)
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
So, who gets the ball from Lincoln Riley? Fourth-ranked Oklahoma is fresh off an electrifying comeback win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry. But the stirring 55-48 victory was spearheaded by true freshman QB Caleb Williams, not starter Spencer Rattler. Now what? The Sooners have lived dangerously throughout the first half, winning all five games with FBS opponents by seven points or less. Enter TCU, which has lost seven straight to OU. The Horned Frogs have been uncharacteristically soft on D, and will look to play keep-away with Zach Evans and Kendre Miller, who both went over 100 yards in last week’s Texas Tech win.
Arizona State (5-1) at Utah (3-2)
Saturday, 10:00 p.m. ET (ESPN)
First place in the Pac-12 South will be at stake when Arizona State visits Rice-Eccles Stadium Saturday night. The Sun Devils and the Utes are the last two Pac-12 teams without a conference loss. Both schools are coming off solid wins, ASU handling Stanford and Utah winning at USC’s L.A. Coliseum for the first time in school history. Versatile Ute QB Cameron Rising played his best game in the win, but will be tested by CB Chase Lucas and a senior-drenched Sun Devil secondary that ranks among the nation’s leaders in pass efficiency defense.
