5 Star MBB Mookie Cook this Weekend

He's from PTown, but moved to Chandler to play his last 2 years. The final para. of this article says there's a case to be made for him to be the best player of the 23 class.

"Graf: For me, it’s going to have to be somehow leaving
Marquis Cook
out of the top three in 2023. Cook has a very strong case for being number one in the class, as he’s playing some of the best basketball of his high school career as of late. The AZ Compass Prep junior has been fantastic at both ends of the court, and really coming into his own as a spot-up shooter."

73 Days until the Spring game

Anyone else feel like this off-season has been already too long?

I'm back after taking a few days mostly off, spent some time in Central Oregon recovering from the insanity of my last few months, but am really ready for some football and excited for recruiting coming up.

When I started following the recruiting part, you'd almost never hear about a guy from the future classes, unless they were a complete freak. Now we hear about 2026 quarterbacks getting dropped an offer.

If you haven't had the chance, give @NathanPapandrea 's article a read. Also, make sure to watch the videos while going through the article, otherwise, it might be difficult to understand some of the lingo. I think over time, with the great depth of analysis he is providing, we will all become more knowledgable about a sport we all love.

Following that up, @Scott Reed added his thoughts about the addition of Taimani, basketball and some relevant recruiting bits for today:

I think if Oregon had more room they'd make a better push for Boardingham, but scholly numbers and stop gaps (read grad transfers) may be out there.

Looking forward to recruiting, @Matt Moreno has another solid recruiting article out on 2023 Edge target, Hunter Clegg (which is a pretty solid football name):

Thank you all for being a part of this community.

2023 DE/OLB Hunter Clegg discusses his Oregon offer

Oregon jumped into the mix with an offer a couple weeks ago to American Fork, Utah edge rusher Hunter Clegg. The 6-foot-4 junior was still on JV as a sophomore playing wide receiver with some success. At the urging of some coaches he decided to add weight last year ahead of his junior season and make the transition to defense. He had more success and now has become a rising recruit in the 2023 class. He's picked up most of his offers over the last month or so. Oregon is one of his recent offers, and he was definitely left impressed by the Ducks' decision to get involved. He's hoping to get on a visit at some point once the dead period is over, but he has a lot of respect for Dan Lanning and Tony Tuioti right now. Utah has emerged as the early favorite and his brother just signed as a PWO with the Utes, but he sounds adamant that other programs are going to have a chance to earn his commitment.

"It’s always just been that wow program where I never thought anything like that would ever happen. ... It was probably one of my more emotional offers, just that wow factor from Oregon. Then, coach Lanning being at Oregon you know he knows his stuff, and he knows what talent looks like. So, he’d be a good guy to be around so you can know what you need to do to get to that next level.”

Dan is the Man

I won’t get into my personal philosophy of winning, but you are about to see a program that will personify it. Oregon football is in for a spiritual change.

There will be a different kind of energy and attitude. The record won’t even be the single most important thing (although I predict that it will become great) This team will be a happy group of athletes who have fun playing this crazy game. They will have a different kind of enthusiasm. They will love working hard in practice. They will have a special team chemistry.

That’s enough about the team. What is most important to we fans can be summed up in one word … ENTERTAINMENT! The Ducks will be fun to watch. Win lose or draw, Oregon football is about to become a blast for us.

I love this guy! He will become the Robert Johnson of college football and there are none better than Robert. Their friendship will develop and become synergetic. Two dynamic, and happy winners. I’ve been waiting a long time for this kind of change. It has finally come.

LET THE DAN LANNING SHOW BEGIN!

Excited to roll out Nathan Papandrea's first edition of Ducks Film Room -- and IN-DEPTH breakdown of DT transfer addition Sam Taimani

When we introduced the addition of Nathan Papandrea to the staff we teased the kind of work he would be doing with film breakdowns/analysis, and I'm so excited to finally show you now.

I think this is NEXT-LEVEL analysis and such a huge addition to our content here. I'll let Nathan chime in with what else he has coming, but you can see the time and work that went into this, so these take time to produce.

Please give this a look when you get time!

TRAAAACK

Transfer from Chicago’s Loyola University.

Woman sprinter, Jordyn Blake from New Zealand. I consider her a 4 star based upon her 400m PR. It does seem like UO has been loading up on women quarter milers. I don’t know how likely most of them will be to score individually at Nationals, but we will be kicking it individually at Pac 12s and at Nationals in the 4x400.

Oregon track tries to accomplish three aspects: win the Pac 12, make the podium at Nationals and be entertaining. The entertaining part is Oregon’s tradition. I can’t think of any event that has brought the fans to their feet more than the women’s 4X400. That is an event that should have a pool of six runners or more. It is also an event where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is not to say that we can’t have some of these women break through individually. It just means that they don’t have to in order to have a top relay team. To me, no event is more fun to watch than the 4x400.

WBB tonight at 7:00 versus Arizona..🔥🔥!

I know most don’t seem to care about WBB but after the game here a couple weeks ago against the Wildcats there were serious post game actions and words, mostly by their coach Barnes.
Going to be a nasty environment with maybe 10,000 Graves and Duck haters there! Here’s sending positive mojo to our Duck ladies….big game!!!!

Shana Grebo

I just learned something about Oregon track’s French freshman super star 400h/400m runner, Shana Grebo. This international talent was not recruited by Oregon. She contacted Oregon to express her interest in attending the university.

I have heard of many other international stars that competed for the Oregon track team who also had contacted Oregon. When your university is so renown for track that some of the top talents in the world ask if they can be a part of your program, you have to consider that Oregon track is probably the most famous college sports’ program in the world… that impresses me!

Our staff is now complete! Introducing our team reporter Aaron Heisen

Our new DSA team is now complete! Yesterday, I officially hired Aaron Heisen to lead our team coverage in Eugene. He's a junior at Oregon, has been writing for the Daily Emerald and has really impressed me with his work. I interviewed a handful of candidates -- and we will probably work in some other contributors here and there -- but I had two great conversations with Aaron and am excited to see what he can do for us moving forward.

I'll let him tell you more about himself, but the plan is to have him start immediately and pick up basketball coverage the rest of the way and start working on some football content looking ahead to 2022.

So with that, in addition to the great work Brandon and Scott continue to do and A.J. remaining a valued presence, we've got:

Matt Moreno -- recruiting
Aaron Heisen -- team coverage
Nathan Papandrea -- film breakdown/analysis
Myself -- content planning/editing/special projects

You also saw Axel Louissaint contribute a recruiting story last week and we may add another recruiting contributor as well.

The bottom line, though, is we're at full strength now and ready to roll. Matt and I will be all over the 2023 recruiting cycle starting ASAP with a couple big 7-on-7 tournaments and the start of our Rivals Camp Series later this month. Nathan is close to dropping the first of his film breakdowns, and I'm excited to see it! And Aaron will dive right in.

Also, again, huge thanks to Scott for his steady contributions and for doing some great work at the Polynesian Bowl. And much thanks to Brandon for always keeping the board updated and being on top of any and all news immediately.

Thanks also to the community here for bearing with the transition over this last month and allowing me time to get all these pieces in place. Big things ahead for DSA!

With that, I'll let Aaron introduce himself more thoroughly ...
