DSA Tailgate: UCLA

Good afternoon all,

Been a crazy week. We closed our new place in Tuesday. After we got the keys, I have spent most nights getting the 'little stuff' over which is really just loads of boxes in my car to try and get ahead of the 'big stuff' we will be doing Sunday.

Yes. I WILL be tailgating again Saturday (which just adds to the craziness), but I wouldn't miss this for the world.

The plan is to get there somewhere between 7:30 and 8:30am to set up.

We will be in the AUTZEN LOT, Space 6543 again thanks to the generosity of a member!

I do not have a plan for food this time as I have been going non-stop all week on moving stuff. I think I will likely just go with burgers and dogs with some chips and salsa as well as drinks.

hope some of you can make it by. Biggest home game since 2014 at the very least. Should be lots of people milling about. I will have the TV up for whatever is left of GameDay when I get in...

2024(3?) ATH Jason Mitchell II keeping the Ducks in consideration

There's a lot going on for 2024 two-way athlete recruit Jason Mitchell II. The Gardena (Calif.) Serra standout junior is trying to help position his team for a playoff run, and he also has added to his school work load within the last month after deciding that he is going to consider making the move to the 2023 class. USC, Oregon and Utah have been the schools most in play for the 6-foot-4 defensive back/receiver/quarterback and he has been able to visit each of those programs in person already.

His dad played at USC, and the feeling has been for a while that he will end up playing for the Trojans in college. Mitchell insists he has not made any decision, and Oregon is one of the schools that has continued to hold his attention. He is family friends with Demetrice Martin, who recruited his cousin Bookie Radley-Hiles, and he also knows several current Ducks players as well.

I talked with him about his interest in Oregon, and he has seen a lot that he likes about the program this fall.

“They got some players that I feel, not have been through the same stuff, but have been through the same level of life I would say. I know their players personally, so I just think they got dogs on their team. Then that always comes with the gear. So, it’s a win-win over there.”

Mitchell hopes to be fully decided on whether or not he will reclassify by the end of the year, but right now he is operating with the idea that this will be his last high school season.

Taking stock of the Ducks halfway through the season

Good piece by Jacob Hamre highlighting the five Ducks who have most exceeded expectations so far, five who could be in for a bigger second half and five general takeaways from the first half of the season.

Five takeaways from Oregon media availabilities so far this week

Gabriel and I combined to break down the key talking points and takeaways from the media availability so far this week with Dan Lanning, Bennett Williams, Casey Rogers and Jordon Riley.

Track Rosters Out

They might still be updated. There is lots of talent. In my opinion the top returner for the men is sprint star Micah Williams.
I feel that perhaps the top woman returner is the multi talented international French star Shana Grebo. Both of these athletes are sophomores but undoubtedly had professional options.

I do not see Botswanan teenage sprint sensation Tebego on the roster, but it seems to me that he was planning on coming in the winter.

The woman’s 4x400 team should have a shot at the NCAA title. The men’s 4x100 ( if Tebego is in school) will also be a top contender at the NCAA Championships.

Notre Dame v Stanford

Good guys prevail!
Stanford 16
ND 14

one of my favorite childhood memories was sitting alone in Stanford Stadium at around age 10 and watching Stanford upset Notre Dame. I bicycled to the game and chained my bike to a eucalyptus tree.
I was a Stanford junior rooter and sat in that cheep seat section where we were led in cheers by a man at the field level.
