Should Oregon be recruiting the state of Arizona better?

The 2017 recruiting cycle has come and gone, but analysis of how the recruiting year played out is ongoing. Today, we examine which programs successfully pursued prospects from the state of Arizona - and which struggled.

SURPRISINGLY WEAK: OREGON

Johnny Johnson III

The Ducks have historically recruited the state of Arizona well and during the school’s glory years, from 2010-14, landed at least one of the state’s top 10 players every year. But the last few years things have fallen off and the lone prospect Oregon signed this year was unranked three-star prospect Johnny Johnson.

Crying clownanzo

So I never post but read daily. I don't have any great insights on recruiting but love the Ducks. I just read on OregonLive an article by the Master of Alternative Facts complaining about restrictions the Blazers have put on him. Holy crap! This guy distorts facts and makes things up daily-and he surprised! I just wish the Ducks would do the same. If nobody would talk to him it would be a better Oregon

An unsubstantiated Cristobal rumor - UPDATED 11:37am 2/4

Okay, first, I don't like these, but I want to share it here with you before someone else comes on with sky is falling predictions.

About a week ago, I heard a rumor that Mario Cristobal might be leaving after signing day. The thought was that he might have been reconsidering - and Jim McElwain was still pursuing him to come to Florida. I checked with an athletic department source at Oregon and they said that they had not heard anything regarding Cristobal leaving.

So, I let it go. But today, it popped onto the radar again, this time from some Florida folks.

FWIW, the Florida insider has not heard that there is much to it either. Everything I have heard says it is not going to happen, but when I hear it from both sides, that gives me pause to wonder if there is some sort of truth to the rumor.

It seems unlikely given the report we have about his energy and fire regarding the just signed OL class last night. It is something to keep an eye on, though.
