Oregon LB Blake Rugraff featured on article of former unranked players contributing

Every Friday during the football season, we take a look back at some players who are performing well in either college football or the NFL despite the fact that they were unrated as high school prospects. Here’s our rundown from this past weekend.

THIS WEEK'S CHECKUPS: Five-stars | Four-stars | Three-stars | Two-stars

BLAKE RUGRAFF

As a recruit: Coming out of high school, Rugraff had some FCS offers and Oregon and Texas A&M were the only schools to give him a chance to walk on. After attending an open tryout with the Ducks in 2016, he was added to the roster.

What he did last weekend: After redshirting his first year in Eugene, Rugraff has taken advantage of the open competition for playing time under the new coaching staff and worked his way into a contributing role. After an injury to the Ducks' starter against Cal, Rugraff entered the game and tallied six total tackles. His role is likely to only increase as the year moves along and with the Ducks defense depleted by injuries, he will be counted on to play well.

A.J., Scott, or other DSA members, Stub hub Vs. Ticketmaster

Has anyone been as frustrated by the Duck Ticket office making a change to go with
an exclusive ticket resale agreement with Ticketmaster. I tried to list tickets for Duck
Football games this season that I am unable to attend and was told by Stub hub that
I could not use their service due to an exclusive arrangement the Duck ticket office made with Ticketmaster.
The service on Ticketmaster pales in comparison to the service offered by Stub hub
in my view. Any information would be appreciated. PMM

QB Question

with the constant flow of information it is hard to keep up . . . So I looked at commit list tonight and did not see a QB . . . Which leads me to a couple of questions I hope can be answered?

I can only assume we are recruiting a QB for this class, if that is assumption is correct who are the top 2018 QB targets?

Who amongst that list has visited? Who amongst that list is most likely to commit?

Thanks!

A few observations from practice today...

We only had 20 minutes to watch some drills but it was enough to take a look at a few key guys we have been wondering about.

  • The QB rotation was Alie, Burmeister, Burch, Irwin
  • It looked like Alie was just fine
  • Royce Freeman, if I were a betting man, will play Saturday. Will keep a close eye on him tomorrow
So it seems like the coaches will go with Alie at QB to start the game. He would have to either struggle or get injured to get pulled I would guess. Arroyo did say before practice that it is very possible both will get in on Saturday.

Not too worried about the RB situation but it would not be surprising if they were at full strength for WSU.

Man, if only Herbert were healthy I would be all-in on beating the No. 11 team in the country. As it is right now, I am not feeling great about it. But that Leavitt defense sure makes me feel better...

Justin Herbert injury update...

Lots of conjecture out there and much of it is correct about Justin Herbert's injury. I was told I could give out this information once it started leaking out. I waited until it more than leaked but anyway...

Herbert fractured his left (non-throwing) clavicle and is undergoing plate fixation surgery today. The recovery time is quite variable but generally at his age and physical condition less than six weeks to return is very possible.

So, assuming his recovery is normal, a return by the Arizona game on November 18th is something very reasonable to consider, especially with the bye week before that game. If he is early with his recovery Washington on November 4th is possible, but I think that is unlikely.

Regardless, we wish Justin Herbert the speediest of recoveries, and for Taylor Alie and Braxton Burmeister to do well in his absence.
