Annali Maley Transfers

I haven't seen it posted anywhere else, so here goes:

Annali Maley, 6'2 Freshman forward from Australia, has transferred from the Oregon WBB team to play for TCU in the future. Maley played in 37 games for the Ducks and was praised for her steady defense, her constant effort on the board and the hard work she put in every day, whether it be in a game or in practice.

I liked what Maley brought to the team. Her effort would often get her rebounds that others were in better position for because she just wanted it more. With the additions of Erin Boley and Nyara Sabally next season, the small forward position was going to be pretty crowded and I could understand her wanting a situation where her PT would be greater.

I'll miss her constant effort, her deprecating humor (she claimed she never fell down, the ground just had magnets that pulled her that way) and the always positive attitude she exhibited on the floor or on the bench.

Best of luck to her in the future!

Jacob Capra: No time to slack off...

Oregon sophomore Jacob Capra chose the Ducks over 12 other offers out of Auburn (Calif.) Placer high school as a member of the Class of 2016. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive guard has now had two years in the program and as an early enrollee, is in the middle of his third college spring camp.

Most of spring he has been running with the first-team offense at left guard, though the fall lineup will become clearer once center Jake Hanson returns from injury. The coaches will then decide what to do with versatile junior Calvin Throckmorton, who has been first-team center in his stead.

As a redshirt freshman last season, Capra got his first start against UCLA. This year, he is a viable option to be a full-time starter.

How did you work your way up the depth chart these last two years?

“Taking coaching from the guys and watching other guys do it,” said Capra. “Obviously still a long way to go before the season, but just having great people around me that I can learn from.”

In this interview, Duck Sports Authority and Capra review a range of topics:
  • Getting used to Oregon weather
  • Having three line coaches
  • Youngsters standing out
  • Going against Jordon Scott: "It's always going to be a battle with Fat Mac"
  • Happiness with being at Oregon
  • Snowboarding

Practice #10 Thursday 4/12...

Getting ready to head to the 10th practice of spring 2018. Interviews before practice at around 8:15 then they will let us in to watch at about 9:00 which is the normal pattern this spring. I think they will move it inside the Moshofsky Center again today because from where I am sitting looking west, I suspect it will be raining a lot today.

We have our first opportunity to talk to the new LB coach Cort Dennison today which will be interesting. I have interviews set up with Keith Simms and Gary Baker.

I'll attach some practice notes to this thread when I get back.

Steve Barnett

I read in my latest Oregon Quarterly of the passing of Duck football all-American Steve Barnett. Steve played for the Ducks 1959 - 1963 and received numerous conference and national honors. He lived in my dorm freshman year (Stafford Hall), and I knew him to be a thoroughly nice guy, modest with no BMOC airs. I had not seen this reported elsewhere on DSA, so thought I would post it.
