Dillon Gabriel and Tez Johnson among All-Big Ten preseason honorees

The Big Ten doesn't do a full preseason team -- it has media vote for 12 total players. Oregon's Dillon Gabriel and Tez Johnson were two of the 12 selected:

Here's the press release:

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and wide receiver Tez Johnson were included on the 2024 Big Ten Football Preseason Honors list announced by the conference on Tuesday, ahead of the start of Big Ten Football Media Days at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

A media panel selected the 12-player preseason list, with Oregon joining Ohio State and Michigan as teams with multiple representatives. The Ducks will take their turn at Big Ten Football Media Days on Thursday, where Gabriel will be joined by head coach Dan Lanning, tight end Terrance Ferguson and inside linebacker Jeffrey Bassa.

Gabriel joined the Ducks this offseason as a sixth-year transfer from Oklahoma, and he enters 2024 in a tie for fourth in NCAA history in career total touchdowns (152) while ranking seventh in total yards (15,925) and eighth in both passing yards (14,865) and passing touchdowns (125). He was a unanimous all-Big 12 first-team selection for the Sooners in 2023, completing 266-of-384 passes for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 373 yards and a team-high 12 touchdowns.

Johnson put together a historic season for the Ducks in 2023 after transferring from Troy, setting the UO single-season record with 86 receptions. His 1,182 receiving yards ranked third in single-season history while his 10 receiving touchdowns tied for fourth, and his 11 receptions for 172 yards in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl both ranked No. 2 in UO bowl game history. Johnson had a career-high 12 receptions on Nov. 4 vs. California, tying for the third-most in UO single-game history.

Gabriel, Johnson and the Ducks will open preseason camp on July 31, exactly one month before kicking off their inaugural season as members of the Big Ten Conference against Idaho on Aug. 31 in Autzen Stadium (4:30 p.m. PT, Big Ten Network).

Rivals250 LB Keenan Britt has two visits set as decision nears

Keenan Britt, the No. 15-ranked outside backer in the Rivals250 for the 2026 class out of Oxford (Ala.) High School, is set to choose from Oregon, Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Auburn on July 29.

The Ducks have been coming equally as hard and will welcome Britt out to the Pacfic Northwest at the week's end.

Tosh Lupoi, Chris Hampton and Dan Lanning have all been pressing hard for the Alabama blue-chipper for months.

"They've been recruiting me hard ever since I got the offer," Britt said. "I hear from them every day. It's good vibes down there in Eugene."

"They've been showing me I'm high on the board and the love they're showing me over there is real love," he continued. "The way I fit in that defense, playing off the edge and on the boundary, I would really fit in perfectly in Coach Lupoi's defense."

DaSaahn Brame

Yes I have heard some rumblings (mostly out of Tennessee) that the Vols think they are going to flip him.

The background is that his GF has a schollie to play soccer at Tennessee and that is a big part of why the Vols made a strong late push for the long time Oregon lean.

But I also have conflicting information from the Oregon side that he has spoken with a key member of the team who dealt with a long distance relationship and that Brame felt a lot better after that conversation.

Nonetheless it is still a potential situation to monitor moving forward.

DJ Pickett to LSU

Two weeks ago, Pickett had Oregon as his choice. Rumors of Miami making a push were only sort of true, but there was a late push by LSU as he was a truly priority target for them. When you play against the big boys, there are going to be some tight moments. At the end, the Oregon staff was able to touch bases with everyone and remind them of what had originally separated them but the relationship Pickett and family had with LSU DB coach Corey Raymond, the proximity of LSU, and playing in the SEC was just too appealing to DJ and his family.
