PENEI: BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER. PERIOD.

At any position!

ESPN :

College football's best at everything on offense

The 2019 college football season is behind us and after grading every player on every play in every game, we can now look back and assign some superlatives from the season. Here's a look at the best player in 35 different offensive categories, from who throws the best deep ball to the receiver who runs the best comeback route, and just about everything in between.

Highest overall grade: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
It was a close race all season, but Sewell ends the 2019 year as the highest-graded player on offense, dominating nearly every facet of play with relative ease. Not only was he the best run-blocking lineman in the country, Sewell held his own against a variety of pass-rushers and anchored the talented Ducks offensive line by allowing only seven pressures on his 449 pass-blocking snaps from left tackle.

Flowe trending?

- Justin Flowe is visiting USC as we speak. I expect Helton to do his best Kevin Bacon (Animal House) impression and say "all is well" but uncertainty concerning the future of the HC and the DC will continue to swirl.

- In the mean time Trenton Simpson, a 5* OLB from Charlotte who has been waiting for a Clemsonoffer finally got that offer today while on an official visit

- I have heard conflicting information on whether the offer was delayed due to Flowe. Our Clemson source says that Flowe (who is an ILB) had nothing to do with Simpson... that they have room for both

- Others have said it's an either/or situation and that the Simpson offer implies that Clemson feels Flowe is not going to be a Tiger.

- IMO, they would make room for both but I think Oregon is in a really good spot here. Mario had an in home after Clemson (who sent Venables and NOT Dabo) and the Ducks have made their absolute best pitch.

- The choice of Flowe will have ZERO to do with who else is signing. He lives the competition and will not shy away from any team based on depth chart or other signings.

Coaching Carousel: "Major" shift coming?

So, in reading through some of the stuff regarding the only Power 5 Head Coach opening, something may be brewing that could cause a shift in the college football landscape.

Brian Kelly. Boston College.

No guarantees here, but this is something that is very realistic which could lead Urban Meyer back to college football which then shifts a lot of other moves as Meyer considers his staff there.

Tristen Wallace - Still playing college football

Ran across this story by Kenny Jacoby. He used to write for the Daily Emerald and has now moved on to USA Today.

FWIW, I gave him the initial story; but he would not print it without the victims name (which I had been asked to not share). I did not feel like it was our job to be investigative journalists into this matter and I like Kenny.

Jonathan Harvey added to Football Roster

I don’t know what to make of this. Jonathan is a senior hurdler on the track team. He runs the 110 and 400 hurdles and runs a leg on the 4x400.

His best event is the 400 hurdles. He is on the skinny side. I wouldn’t describe him as a track star, but he is a solid performer in the 400h. He has shown lots of improvement during his time at Oregon. He went to a famous football school, De La Salle. I do not know if he played football in high school. He doesn’t posses sprinter’s speed. He is more of a “technical runner”
... meaning hurdles. However, he might be fast relative to football speed.... hurdlers tend to translate well to football speed ... except for the fact that he is better in the longer hurdles than the more explosive 110 hurdles.

I don’t expect Jonathan to have a big impact on the football team, but who knows?
