How in hell!

i see on the 2024 team recruiting lists that Colorado is bringing in over 40 transfers.

What does that mad man think is the secret to building a team? One and Done short timers who will never meld into a team? His kid will again be subjected to harassment and possible injury to apease his old man?

i hope some saner minds can see what this kind of team management can lead to and stop it.

Wuzzat score goin' to be vs Idaho

As promised, I have here in my currently unstained hand 5 football cards.
Troy Dye rookie card
Brian Hinkle card
Gary Zimmerman card
Coach John Robinson card
Deion Sanders either Rookie or second season card (I'll check later) Gotta believe if you are going to win this thing.

Scoring is different this year and while the main winner gets the cards, the secondary one gets the glory.. Main winner is most points
The third guy can just brag a little. Second it the guy with the best average score (minimum of 7 games) Third guy is the one with the most wins.
Yep, it's possible for one of you (or me) to claim all three

Scoring is simpler this year
100 points for correctly picking the winner
50 points for each exact score for a team in the game
25 for the correct spread
To determine the weekly winner in case of a tie is first one in.

Some of you lurkers, please come out of the shadows for just this one little thing. We'd be happy to have you and one of us 2nd year veterans is bound to keep you out of the bottom spot.

With that in mind I kick it off with 59-0 score vs Idaho

QuantumDuck Crap Vol. 1

Welcome to my round table on Duck Football. Here are my guests OldAsHellDuck, GenXDuck69, HuskyHater13 and DuckGirl23.

The first question I have is, "How is Dan Lanning doing as a coach? " OldAsHellDuck, you are out elder statesman here, why don't you go first?

OldAsHellDuck: Well, he is no Rick Brooks.

GenXDuck69: Not this shit again, Rick Brooks is the most overrated coach in Oregon history, he rode Mike Bellotti's coattails to his only success.

OldAsHellDuck: Bullshit, Bellotti took what Brooks built and improved on it. That is why we named the field after him.

GenXDuck69: Brooks was a sub .500 coach whose best season before Bellotti showed up was 6-3-2. He was a loser everywhere he coached.

OldAsHellDuck: He was a rebuilder of broken programs. The coaches that followed him had solid foundations to build on. Besides, if Bellotti is so great, why didn't he win Coach of the Year in the Pac 10, like Rich Brooks did?

QuantumDuck: OK, that is enough, let's hear from HuskyHater13.

GenXDuck69: Wait, I did not get to give my take on Lanning.

QuantumDuck: What is your take?

GenXDuck69: He is a young coach with only 2 years' experience as a head coach and is doing great. He is taking what Mario Cristobal built and improving on it, especially in the trenches and with recruiting.

OldAsHellDuck : Just like Bellotti built from what Brooks started.

GenXDuck69: Only if you count a 100-foot hole as a solid foundation.

OldAsHellDuck: I have had enough of you. At the DSA tailgate, I am going to whoop your ass.

GenXDuck69: Old man I am going put you in place, with a one punch knockout.

QuantumDuck: That is enough. I know if you two get in a fight at the DSA Tailgate, Scott Reed with thump both of you. That man is not too be trifled with. HuskyHater13 what is your opinion?

HuskyHater13: I like the way Dan recruits, and I like that he won both of his bowl games, but if he loses to the Huskies again, I am going to lose it. Being 0-3 against the Huskies and 1-1 against the Beavs will not cut it around here.

OldAsHellDuck: I agree, I could count on Rich to bring home a victory against the rodents almost every year.

GenXDuck69: How did he do against the leg humpers?

OldAsHellDuck: Kiss my ass.

QuantumDuck: Would you two please stop. We have not heard from DuckGirl23 yet, what do you think?

DuckGirl23: He is kind of cute for an old dude, but I want to know why has Oregon not hired a female head coach yet?

OldAsHellDuck: I will tell you why because she was in the kitchen making Rich Brooks a sandwich.

GenXDuck69: Ha ha, we agree on that one OAD. I prefer my females cheering for my team, not coaching it.

HuskyHater13: No doubt. Oregon has the best-looking cheerleaders in the country. 100 percent NFA.

DuckGirl23: You guys are chauvinists and what does NFA mean?

HuskyHater13: No Fatties Allowed.

DuckGirl23: You cannot say that. That is not being inclusive. I am reporting all 4 of you to Scott Reed. He will ban all of you.

QuantumDuck: I am just going to stop this now, this is exhausting. We will see if we can get a round table together to get some game 1 predictions against Idaho. Assuming Scott does not ban us all.

Around the B1G
I am going to address a rumor that I find fascinating. This involves Michigan and their cheating scandals. Everyone has heard of the Connor Stallions illegal advanced scouting where he went to opponent's games and filmed their play calls with the plays they ran. This is not that scandal. This is related to a rumor involving the firing of Matt Weiss, an assistant coach for the Wolverines, for inappropriately accessing computer accounts at Schembechler Hall which houses the football offices.

Two years ago, before the Ohio St – Michigan game, it is rumored that Ryan Day implemented 4 plays that he had never used before at Ohio State, specifically for that game. During the game, Michigan covered each play perfectly. It was not that they were not successful, it was that Michigan called the perfect defense each time. One of the times was a goal line play where the tight end blocked and then went out to become a receiver. Somehow Michigan knew to drop their defense end into the perfect coverage. Ryan Day felt something was up.

Most teams in Division 1 football have a system that loads every play from games and practices. If you type in a player’s name, the application will pull up every play for that player to review and study. This is where it is believed that the hacking occurred. Now I am not sure of which application Ohio State uses, but it would not surprise me if most teams are using the same application on a cloud server. Hacking could be as simple as getting an admin password to the software and it accidently allowing you access to any teams data. Who knows for sure.

Quantum, that does not prove anything. Normally I would agree with you, but then the FBI was brought in on the Weiss case. This usually means that you crossed state lines while committing a felony.
Again, this is only a rumor, but if this turns out to be true, what would the penalty be? The death penalty would be the only right answer, and I doubt the NCAA or B1G would want to destroy one of their cash cows. Would they cover it up? Hard to say. Remember this is all rumors and innuendo.

That is all for now.

QuantumDuck Crap Vol. 3 - The Real DSA Roundtable...Sort of

*Notice: all opinions in this post are in no way supported or approved by DSA or any other person with an IQ over 100.

Welcome back to QuatumDuck’s round table and my returning guests are OldAsHellDuck, GenXDuck69, HuskyHater13 and DuckGirl23.
Here we are days before the opening game of the 2024 season and our Ducks open with the might Idaho Vandals. The Ducks opened as 43.5 point favorites and it has been bet up to 44.5 points in some books. This week we are going to let DuckGirl23 go first and tell us who she thinks will win, will they cover the spread and what she is looking for in this game.

DuckGirl23: I really don’t like the name Vandals, it almost triggers me, but let me understand how this works. Idaho gets 43.5 points to make the game more fair?

QuantumDuck: For the purposes of betting money on the game, yes.

DuckGirl23: But they do not get the points for the purposes of winning the game?

QuantumDuck: Uhhh...No.

DuckGirl23: Do they at least get to use some of our players to make it fairer?

OldAssDuck: What type of commie bullshit is this?

GenXDuck69: Quantum, why is she here. Are you doing this just to mess with us?

DuckGirl23: He hired me as his DEI consultant.

OldAsHellDuck: Hold on, he is paying you money? All he offered me was free beer and food at the DSA tailgate.

GenXDuck69: That is the same offer he gave me.

HuskyHater13: Me too.

GenXDuck69: Wait a minute. Now that I think about it, you are not even offering your free beer and food, you are offering up Scott Reed’s free beer and food.

HuskyHater13: That is extremely weak shit.

OldAsHellDuck: Sounds like something a Husky fan would do.

QuantumDuck: Hey Now! That insult went too far. Say that again and you are off the round table.

OldAsHellDuck: You are right. Sorry about that, I am just mad you are giving toots here money. How much is he paying you anyways?

DuckGirl23: I can’t say because if I break my NDA I lose my signing bonus.

OldAsHellDuck: Signing bonus???

QuantumDuck: That is enough. You 3 can be easily replaced. DuckGirl23, can you just answer the original question, please.

DuckGirl23: Fine. The Ducks will win because they have an unfair advantage and I really do not approve of scheduling these FCS games in order to just humiliate your opponent. It is not necessary.

HuskyHater13: Holy crap, that almost sounded like a football take. You should ask Colorado about scheduling FCS teams. Sometimes they show your continued weaknesses.

DuckGirl23: I have started doing my best to research this game of toxic masculinity.

GenXDuck69: One of the reasons we play an FCS team is to see where our team is at before conference play starts. It also gets the FCS school a payout of around $600K which goes a long way to helping with their athletic budget.

DuckGirl23: In that case, I am ok with it, but I wish we would not keep score, so everyone can be winner.

OldAsHellDuck: The death of America right before my eyes.

QuantumDuck: What is your prediction HuskyHater13?

HuskyHater13: 70 – 0 Ducks, just like Portland State last year.

GenXDuck69: That only happens if the Idaho head coach benches his starters to prevent injuries. If not I can see Idaho scoring 3 – 7 points late. I think 59 – 3

QuantumDuck: Finally, OldAsHellDuck let's hear it.

OldAsHellDuck: Why did you have to say it like that? Look, Dan seems like a decent coach, but he keeps recruiting all these soft 4 and 5 start players. I prefer the 2 and 3 star players with a chip on their shoulder, like Gang Green from 94. Ducks win 31 – 17.

HuskyHater13: I soooo want some of the shit he is smoking.

GenXDuck69: Oh my God, he is a beaver fan at heart.

OldAssDuck: That insult takes it too far. We will see if you say that to my face at the DSA tailgate.

GenXDuck69: Only Barkrats brag up liking “coached up" 2 and 3 stars over “coached up” up 4 and 5 stars.

QuantumDuck: That is all for this week, see everyone at the Tailgate.

Around the B1G Predictions

Games played last night

Rutgers beat Howard 44 – 7
Minnesota loses at home to North Carolina 19 – 17. The boat must have sprung a leak.
Illinois beat Eastern Illinois 45 – 0

Rest of the B1G
Oregon, Penn St, Iowa, Maryland, Purdue, Ohio St, Indiana, Nebraska, Michigan, and Washington win.

Northwestern and UCLA are on upset alert, but should win.

USC loses to LSU in the battle of the “do we have a defense this year? “ game. Until Lincoln Riley shows me his team is tough, every win against a team with a pulse, will come because of a shootout.

Congrats to Pro Ducks!

These are the Men of Oregon that have earned a place on 53 man rosters in the NFL. There are a few others who are on the PUP & IR lists, and more yet will find their way onto practice squads. There will likely be more changes in the weeks to come, but this is a major accomplishment worth recognizing. Congratulations to all of them for pursuing their dreams to the highest level!

QuantumDuck Crap Vol. 2 - The PAC 2.

*Notice: all opinions in this post are in no way supported or approved by DSA or any other person with an IQ over 100.

Welcome back to QuatumDuck’s round table and my returning guests are OldAsHellDuck, GenXDuck69, HuskyHater13 and DuckGirl23.

You may have noticed the “notice” at the top of the page. I was contacted by DSA Legal to add this to all my posts if I wanted to keep my membership. You would think a guy who has been a member since 2003 would get more respect. Sheesh.

Today’s topic is what happens to the PAC 2 going forward?

HuskyHater13: Who cares.

OldAsHellDuck: I agree, they are now where they belong. Why just the other day I was in Costco and a BarkRat was walking buy wearing this shirt that said, “Built Not Bought.” We made eye contact, and I said, “You have built yourself a really nice Mountain West Team.” He turned a bright orange, and I saw his hand clinch into a fist. I stared him down and I saw the fear in his eyes, and he quietly walked away.

GenXDuck69: Alex can I get “Things that did not happen”, for $1000 please.

OldAsHellDuck: Yes it did, I can’t wait to see you at the DSA Tailgate, I am going to give you a serious ass whooping.

QuantumDuck: Let’s stay on topic guys.

DuckGirl23: I think it would be better if you used the term “persons”, instead of “guys.”

OldAsHellDuck: You can’t be serious?

GenXDuck69: I think she is. By the way, what are you pronouns?

DuckGirl23: Thank you for asking. She/her are my pronouns. I can see I am already having a good influence on you.

HuskyHater13: Staying on topic, the Beavs and the Cougs literally made their own bed. Larry Scott came in with the idea of expansion and even revenue sharing. Back in 2010 the PAC 12 decided to go from the model where each game was split with 55% of the money going to the participants and 45% to the rest of the league, to everything was split even. Even that idiot Mike Garrett at USC warned that equal revenue sharing would cause USC to leave the PAC 12, it just took 14 years for it happen.

DuckGirl23: I think the equal revenue sharing is the only fair way to do things, but how would OSU and WSU know that USC would actually leave?

GenXDuck69: HuskyHater13 is on to something here. This falls under basic Game Theory. USC in 2010 was in no position to leave the PAC 12. In 2011 the PAC signs a 12-year media rights deal with ESPN and Fox that starts in August of 2012. There is your end date on USC possibly leaving in 2024. Larry Scott to that point had over promised and under delivered. He failed in his quest to expand the PAC with Texas and Oklahoma. OSU and WSU fully bought in to Larry Scott, just assuming there was no way USC would leave, that they had some type of loyalty to the Conference of Champions. They needed to evaluate, what would it take to make sure USC does not leave, and if they do leave, what happens to us and the rest of the PAC 12.

OldAsHellDuck: So the Barkrats and the Coug-its were walking around the yard holding Larry Scott’s pockets, when in reality they needed to be holding USC’s pockets.

DuckGirl23: Excuse me, what does that mean exactly?

OldAsHellDuck: Go watch the movie Shawshank Redemption.

HuskyHater13: Exactly right OldAsHellDuck. All they cared about was making more money right then and did not think about the future.

GenXDuck69: Unless the Big 12 throws out some sort of life raft, the updated version of the “PAC whatever”, will be nothing more than a glorified version of Mountain West.

HuskyHater13: Look at Oregon and Washington, they quickly realized they were doomed in a PAC 12 without USC and UCLA, so they took less money now, so they would make more in the future and be in a conference that would not be going anywhere.

OldAsHellDuck: Don’t forget Stanford and Cal. They also had nowhere to land. The ACC only accepted them because they agreed to take no money. You would think two institutions known for being so “smart,” would have seen this happing from a mile away.

GenXDuck69: No doubt. The hubris was strong in the Bay area.

QuantumDuck: In conclusion, it sounds like you three believe the Beavers and Cougs should have seen it coming, but their greed didn’t allow them to see disaster coming at them. They are now relegated to some form of the Mountain West. I am impressed, this conversation went half-way decent. Next up Idaho predictions.

Around College Football
Colorado Buffalos – It turns out that after the loss against Oregon last year, the Buffs filed a complaint with the PAC 12 that there had been multiple potential incursions into the team’s online service Catapult.

They alleged Oregon played a roll. Catapult could not find any incursions and Colorado let the issue drop. Here is the link to the article Colorado Accuses Oregon

I was at that game; Oregon did not need to cheat to beat that team. In fact, if I correctly remember, coaches from all over the nation were calling Oregon with information to share on how to beat Colorado. Deon was buying the hype the media was giving him, and Oregon gave him a beatdown and began a string of losses that brought him back down to earth. Pathetic.

Note: Brandon already posted this, dammit.

Week 0 recap.
Number 10 Florida State looked like crap losing to unranked Georgia Tech 24 – 21 in Ireland. For a team in FSU that supposedly had the best defensive line in the country, they got pushed around by a much-improved Georgia Tech offensive line. On paper this was mismatch, and FSU should not have had any problems winning this game.

Mike Norvell is in trouble if he cannot turn this around quickly. Getting beat is one thing, but getting beat because your players are not playing as a team is a whole different issue.

SMU beat Nevada 29 – 24 in another game that on paper should not have been close. SMU was a dark horse to win the ACC and Nevada was picked to finish last in the Mountain West. This another case of a team just showing up assuming a win was just going to happen. I am sure Nevada is improved, but SMU looked unprepared. In the second half they realized the RJ Maryland was a nightmare mismatch for Nevada. If the kid does not go pro, look for him to be sitting on a power 4 roster next year.
