Oregon and USC met one time this season down in LA almost exactly a month ago, and USC won.

Welp OSU is in control of this one with 12 minutes left in the game up 37-24. If the Beavers win the Ducks have to win.

We'll start with the softball results as the Lady Ducks continue to dominate. Yesterday they swept Loyola-Marymount in a double-header. Here is the release from Oregon written by Rob Moseley.

EUGENE, Ore. —The No. 3 Oregon softball team swept a doubleheader from Loyola Marymount at Jane Sanders Stadium on Friday by dominating at the plate in the opener and in the circle during the nightcap.

The Ducks (22-1) swept the nonconference doubleheader by exploding for 14 runs in the opener, then getting a no-hitter from freshman right-hander Makenna Kliethermes in game two.

Game 1: No. 3 Oregon 14, Loyola Marymount 2

Vallery Wong's three-run double sparked a seven-run fourth inning for the Ducks as they needed just five innings to win game one Friday.

How It Happened: The Ducks scored in every inning, beginning with an RBI double from Hanna Delgado in the first. Lexi Wagner tripled in a run in the second and scored on a single by Haley Cruse, and the Ducks got homers from Alyssa Brito and Maddie Hopper in the third to break the game open. Brito's solo homer was her ninth of the year, and Hopper tacked on a three-run shot to make it 7-0.

The Ducks doubled that lead in the fourth, beginning with Wong's double that cleared the bases. She came home on a Rachel Cid single, Shaye Bowden singled and took second on an error that scored Cid, Wagner singled home Bowden and Deijah Pangilinan later walked with the bases loaded.

Oregon showed its resiliency in coming from behind multiple times the week before to sweep a series with Utah. On Friday, the Ducks were never in danger of needing to do so.

"I liked how quick we started," UO coach Melyssa Lombardi said. "We spoke about having a quick start today, and I thought we did that in the first game."

Brooke Yanez (10-0) threw three shutout innings to start the game for the Ducks, and Raegan Breedlove closed it out, allowing two runs in the top of the fifth before shutting the door on the Lions.

Game 2: No. 3 Oregon 3, Loyola Marymount 0

Kliethermes followed up her seven shutout innings across two appearances against Utah the week before by going all seven against the Lions in game two Friday, allowing only a walk and a hit batter while striking out 15 for her first collegiate no-hitter.

"I would definitely say I had a lot of confidence going into the weekend," Klierthermes said. "But after that performance, I was pretty happy with myself."

How It Happened: Kliethermes (5-0) was dominant from the outset, striking out the first six batters she faced. She allowed one-out baserunners in the third and fourth but pitched around them, striking out the side in the fourth and again in the seventh.

The Ducks again generated offense early. Delgado singled in the first, stole second, took third on a fielder's choice and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brito. Allee Bunker scored later in the inning on an error, and Bunker made it 3-0 in the third with her fifth home run of the year.

Notable: Oregon won its 13th straight game and has won 22 of the first 23 games of a season for the second time in program history ... Kliethermes' no-hitter was the 34th in program history and the first seven-inning no-hitter by a Duck since Jordan Dail on March 27, 2019 ... She is just the fourth player in school history to strike out at least 15 batters in a no-hitter ... Her 15 strikeouts are also tied for the eighth-most in a single game by an Oregon player ... In the game one win, 11 different Ducks recorded a hit while eight different players drove in a run ... Bunker led the way offensively over the two games, going 3-for-6 with three runs scored and a homer.

Oregon competed at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego today. The field was good with USC. San Diego State, Cal, Arizona, ASU, Air Force, Grand Canyon and others.

Oregon’s sprinters were impressive. Xavier Narne ran a 10.20 100m. Danyel White ran a 11.36 and Jasmine Reed ran a 11.36w in the 100.

In the 200 the show was stolen by Micah
Williams in 20.47! Jacoby McNamara surprised us with a 20.68, and Xavier Narne took third with 20.73

The women also had a strong 200 performance. Kemba Nelson won the 200 with a jaw dropping 22.79w and Danyel White took 6th with a 23.34w.

Ben Milligan cleared 7’4.5” in the high jump to win that event.

This was a good day for Oregon. The biggest surprise of the day was Jacoby McNamara with a 10.42w 100 and a 20.68 200. The biggest performances for the men in my opinion were Xavier Natne’s 10.20 100 and Micah Williams 20.47 200.

The women’s outstanding performance was Kemba Nelson’s 22.79w 200. Perhaps the biggest surprise on the women’s side was hurdler Emily Sloan’s 11.59 100m.
