The Rose Bowl The Rose Bowl ! UCLess game Score guessing contest

As promised, I have here in my currently unstained hand 5 football cards.
Troy Dye rookie card
Brian Hinkle card
Gary Zimmerman card
Coach John Robinson card
Deion Sanders either Rookie or second season card (I'll check later) Gotta believe if you are going to win this thing.

Scoring is different this year and while the main winner gets the cards, the secondary one gets the glory.. Main winner is most points
The third guy can just brag a little. Second it the guy with the best average score (minimum of 7 games) Third guy is the one with the most wins.
Yep, it's possible for one of you (or me) to claim all three

Scoring is simpler this year
100 points for correctly picking the winner
50 points for each exact score for a team in the game
25 for the correct spread
To determine the weekly winner in case of a tie is first one in.

Some of you lurkers, please come out of the shadows for just this one little thing. We'd be happy to have you and one of us 2nd year veterans is bound to keep you out of the bottom spot.

I'll post that at the top for a couple more weeks for the benefit of new players who stumble onto this thing.

I watched us play two weeks ago and this week's enemy this past weekend and I still have no idea what the score is going to be so that qualifies me to predict the Ducks will beat the 25ish spread in a game that will end in in anything but what I'm guessing

45-10 (Ducks win, of course))

Greatest UO v UCLA game ever

This was one of the questions in the article today. October 10, 1970 Oregon down 40-21 with less than five minutes left in LA. Blanchard and Fouts throwing TD passes and the Ducks win 41-40. I listened to the Game on the radio (Wendy Ray was the play by play guy in those days, I was a Junior in high school) I hope this link to the Oregon Daily Emerald works: https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/2004260239/1970-10-12/ed-1/seq-8/. BTW a couple of weeks later we beat USC 10-7 at Autzen.

Class of 2026 4-star wide receiver Donovan Murph of Columbia, SC talks Oregon offer

Donovan Murph is an elite, 4-star wide receiver from Irmo, SC with 33 offers, including from big-name Power Four programs like Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, North Carolina, NC State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and most importantly to Duck Sports Authority readers, Oregon

And I caught up with him shortly after his spring practice in May to discuss his big offer from the Ducks. Here is all he had to say about head coach Dan Lanning's program. "Just the receivers' room and quarterbacks' room is crazy. They put out sneaky receivers. Receivers that you don't think can go, but they're going to have longevity in the league (NFL). And that's something you know, that Coach Junior (Adams), their wide receivers' coach, is developing them over there. Just being able to earn that offer is just a blessing, man. To be able to see all of my dreams come true. Oregon is just a school that I have liked since I was little. Everyone was watching DeAnthony Thomas. That's just something legendary to see. I just can't wait to build that relationship," he said.

Looking through the vodka glasses at week 5 B1G

One more gulp

Ok let's give this thing a try.

I'm predicting four of the five (I think) undefeated teams on the field this week will remain so, with a pair if them taking on each other.

by starting time ..

Washington is at Rutgers and their first recruiting class since starting conference play is going to take a hit as they play their first counting game and have a LONG flight home. Rutgers seems to be surprisingly good but this game won't be much of a test as they easily cover the 2 1/2 points the odds makers have then giving.

Minnesota will have a shorter flight as they leave the Big House where they won't cover the 9 1/2 they are getting. Michigan continues to seem more relevant than they are but that is a good thing for the Ducks.

Nebraska is in Lafayette to face Purdidn'twho this week Purwon't, evening their conference record and covering the 10 point predicted difference

Now it gets interesting. Wisconsin is facing USC and we know how B1G teams have done in Los Angeles over the years, especially on New Years Day. I think the Bucky Busher covers the 15.5 spread. Bucky earned the moniker by calling time out with seconds left in a game at Autzen to kick a field goal and run up the score in a lop-sided game long before Oregon was relevant.

Mr Smith usually fails at some point early in the season and is about to have another unfortunate encounter with an OSU program but will be closer than 24 points in the exhaust.

Penn State is a 19 point favorite vs the Illini but won't cover and may even be victim of the only upset victim of the week.

Oregon will cover in the Rose Bowl.

in other interesting news, look for touchdown Jesus to be weeping again as his leprechauns perform another feckless act on the gridiron below him. They will also lose the game.

Tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET, I will speak with 4-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile about his offer from “the” University of Oregon.

The Class of 2026 4-star ranked No. 41 in the state and No. 49 at the position in the United States was tendered his offer from the Ducks on Dec. 19, 2023.

From Dallas, Texas, Pile’s father, Willie, was a former notable standout at Virginia Tech during the Frank Beamer era. During his junior season thus far, Pile has recorded 21 receptions, 477 yards, six touchdowns, and 22.48 yards per catch.
