Feld gets pumped up

Fill the sleeves?

Absolutely. Also, fill the pockets.

New contract pays him $425k a year. Plus a $25,000 retention bonus.

I should have paid more attention in P.E. class.

Dontae Manning looks physical and aggressive in this spring game clip

Injured in 2020 and limited to just one game, Manning looks ready to challenge for snaps in the secondary as a redshirt freshman. He gets low and brings down Patrick Herbert, takes a pick out of the end zone.

6-0 192, He'll play a ton in the Oregon secondary and could challenge DJ James for a starting cornerback spot opposite Mykael Wright.

Alan Scarborough of ESPN says the transfer portal has brought another new element to college football, tampering.

Some unscrupulous coaches are contacting players on other rosters, his sources say, encouraging them to enter the portal.

Everybody talks about Max Borghi, but another pesky, dangerous weapon for the Washington State Cougars is 5-9, 182-pound receiver Travell Harris. Last November against the Ducks he caught 9 passes for 94 yards.

WT: Great run by freshman Tjen at NCAA's

ORLANDO, Fla. – Janice Tjen kept her incredible freshman season going with another straight-sets victory, beating Duke’s Georgia Drummy, 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship.

The true freshman is the first player in program history to advance to the national quarterfinals at the singles tournament. With a win in Wednesday’s quarterfinal, Tjen would become the first Pac-12 player since 2015 to make it to the national semifinals in singles play.

“I’m very grateful to be competing in my first NCAA Championship and I am excited to be advancing to the quarterfinals,” said Tjen. “I am looking forward to seeing how far I can go this week. Today was extra special because my teammates were in the stands after flying to Florida to surprise me and cheer me on.”

Tjen fell in an early 2-1 hole in the first set, but responded with a dominant effort to take the lead in the match by winning five straight games to win 6-2 in the first. Neither player was able to gain control throughout the first part of the second set, as the two traded game victories with Drummy holding a 4-3 lead after holding serve once again.

However, Tjen would win the final three games to put away the match, highlighted by a huge break point to go up 5-4 before closing it out with back-to-back aces to finish it off.

Tjen moved to 21-2 on the year in singles play and has now won each of her last nine singles matches, eight of which have come against ranked opponents following the win over Drummy, who came in ranked No. 19. She improved ton 9-2 on the year in matches against ranked foes, and has still lost just seven sets all season. Tjen’s singles winning percentage on the season of .913 is also the best single-season win percentage in school history.

Up next, Tjen will take on the No. 6 player in the latest ITA Singles Rankings, Anna Rogers of NC State, in the NCAA quarterfinals on Wednesday at 9 a.m. PT.

MBB: Pac-12 announces December schedules

EUGENE, Ore. – Defending Pac-12 champion Oregon will play Arizona State and Stanford in December, the league announced Tuesday.

The Ducks’ first two games of the 20-game men’s basketball conference schedule for the 2021-22 season will be Dec. 5 against Arizona State in Matthew Knight Arena and at Stanford on Dec. 12.

The Pac-12 also announced a new 10-year annual rotation of men's basketball conference opponents, which begins with the 2021-22 season.

Oregon will have home-and-home series with ASU, Colorado, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State this season. The Ducks play California in Eugene and Arizona in Tucson but will not travel to Berkeley or host the Wildcats.

The home-and-home series will remain the same for the 2022-23 season, while Arizona will play in Eugene and the Ducks will visit Berkeley.

The new 10-year rotation extends through the 2030-31 season. A prior 10-year rotation was implemented for the 2011-12 season, the league's first after expansion to 12 members, and completed during the recent 2020-21 campaign, the league's inaugural 20-game conference season.

He was a Duck for a minute

Passing this along chiefly because it illustrates the vagaries and treacheries of transfer portal football.

6-2, 190 4-star cornerback Jadarrius Perkins decommitted from Oregon in December, committed to Missouri in January, signed, then entered the transfer portal and signed with...the Florida Gators.

The Ducks did all right in this saga, however. The staff went to wotk and added another talented cornerback of their own, with five years to play four.

The first change George Kliavkoff should make in PAC-12 football.

In an ideal football world, every conference should play 9 league games, 11 against Power 5 teams, and at least one tough nonconference game every year.

That's what the Ducks and most of the PAC-12 does, but until the playoff committee expands the playoffs to include all conference champions and 3 at-large teams, it's seppuku.

The PAC-12 gives itself a handicap every year. And as Dave Bartoo says, there is no eye test.
