War Room...RB Coach

Good review, Scott. Anyone have any thoughts on these guys? The Memphis and Pitt guys sound like winners.
We have some good RB's and will need more next cycle. Need a solid RBC.
I'd imagine we might loose 1-2, but Seven, Dollars and obviously Byron seem like a great future group. And who thinks CJV or Dye will come back? Any word on how Benson is doing?

Ducks vs. Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl

Oregon has accepted an invitation to play in the 2021 Valero Alamo Bowl on Wednesday, December 29, at the Alamodome. The Ducks will take on Oklahoma at 5:15 p.m. PT on ESPN.

The Ducks are 10-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play, earning their third straight appearance in the Pac-12 Championship Game after winning the north division. Oregon came in at No. 14 in the final College Football Playoff rankings released on Sunday, two spots ahead of No. 16 Oklahoma.

Oregon – which will be designated as the away team – will make its third appearance in the Alamo Bowl, owning a 1-1 record with a 30-7 win over Texas on December 30, 2013. The Ducks and Sooners will face off for the first time since 2006.

Any rumors on transfer portal for new staff

I'm probably a little early here, but we have a new head coach from Georgia, an OC from Florida state, and a co-DC from Baylor. There are a lot of outstanding players at those three schools, and some of them must have very close relationships with their respective out-going coaches. When Avalos left for Boise 2 or 3 players went with him. I would guess the Ducks will get a few transfers from these schools. Other schools as well, but Lanning was the DC at the school with the best defense in the country. I'm thinking maybe a couple of SEC defensive lineman might be a nice little holiday gift

Predict-a-score: Alamo Bowl

If ever there was bowl game near impossible to predict, this is the one. With so many key players and coaches gone on both sides, who knows which guys play and coach? We have some ideas but not all the answers at this point. So I am going to make a stab in the dark looking to win he big DSA prize: Bragging Rights.

So here is my guess/prediction. Oregon wins despite all the turmoil.

OT- Cort Dennison

Was having lunch today with a Duck friend and of course we were ruminating on all the coaching changes and I happened to mention Cort Dennison. I commented that I hadn’t followed him much since he left UO. My friend said, ‘we’ll, he’s not coaching at the moment’. He shared the following link:

I certainly missed this news item.

Lots of Oklahoma players out for Alamo Bowl...

Seems to me that Oklahoma has more opt outs than Oregon heading into the bowl. I'll go through their opt outs and how much they played.

QB Spencer Rattler transfer to South Carolina. As you can see he played a lot of snaps through the Kansas State game as the starter, then he lost the starting role. Surprising he got benched in that overall his grades were pretty good. Caleb Williams will be their starter but now his backup will be a freshman.

Alamo Bowl: Moorhead and Oregon offense players

JOE MOORHEAD: To my left we've got running back

Travis Dye, quarterback Anthony Brown, offensive lineman

Steven Jones and offensive lineman Alex Forsyth.

We're very excited to be participating in the Alamo Bowl, a

great reward for a fantastic season by our young men, and

the opportunity to reach that 11-win plateau is something

that's very hard to do in college football.

We've had a good couple weeks of preparation at school.

Started off with a great day today, and like I said, when

you're playing a great storied program like Oklahoma, it's

an unbelievable opportunity, and I know our guys are

excited.

Q. Joe, now that you've disclosed what transpired

there the morning of the Stanford game, this will be a

multi-parter, but walk us through what actually

happened, like were you experiencing stomach pain of

some kind for a couple of days? Did this literally wake

you up? And in terms of the chronology, the timeline,

how fast are you there and how quick are you going

under the knife and you're calling Jen? How quick are

these guys learning what's actually happening that

day?

JOE MOORHEAD: Yeah, I have a pregame ritual that I

know through every night on Fridays just going through the

calls and making sure everything is on point for the next

day, and around probably 10:00 or 11:00 that night I

started experiencing a little bit of stomach pain and thought

it was just that and tried to lay down and go to bed and

relax, and it went away a little bit, and I woke up the next

morning to get ready for our staff meeting, would have

been around 6:00 or 6:30, and it was just absolutely

debilitating, could barely move. I hopped in the shower,

got dressed and went down to see Chief and Doc

Davidson in our training room, and they did some tests,

just kind of poking and prodding around and sent me to the

ER, checked in, and they were hoping that they could do

something to alleviate the pain and get me to the stadium

to call the game, and then they took me back for a CT

scan, and that was definitely not going to be the case. So

went from hoping to get me back to the game to we're

going to get you back for surgery in like 45 minutes, and

they took me through the three things that it could be, and

none of them were good.

Yeah, called my wife, called my family, went back, I think

the surgery lasted around six to eight hours, and then next

thing I know, woke up in the recovery room.

Q. When you turn on the tape of Oklahoma, four of

their front seven opted out. What's that process been

like trying to prepare for the guys who are going to

step in across the front seven?

JOE MOORHEAD: Yeah, I think with the combination of

opt-outs and guys that are in the portal, I think there will be

some different faces in there, but at the end of the day

these are all young men who were recruited by the

University of Oklahoma, and the roster is filled with fourand

five-star guys.

Just like us, I'm sure they espouse a next-man-in mentality,

so we have a depth chart, we have guys that we're

anticipating that we're going to see, but at the end of the

day they're still going to be running their defense, and the

things they do present an incredible challenge for us

offensively.

OUCH!!!

ducks not playing in the bowl game

The full scope of unavailable players for the No. 14 Ducks is staggering:

  • Running backs: CJ Verdell (left leg), Sean Dollars (knee, at practice but hasn’t played all season)

Additionally, offensive lineman Ryan Walk (knee) and safety Bennett Williams (broken fibula) are practicing and attempting to play this week.

Lanning doing the RIGHT thing…

Yes this is a “business” but Lanning has earned mine & his player’s respect by the way HE CHOOSES to conduct Business!

"Obviously, Coach Lanning hasn't gone on to his new job yet," Georgia safety Christopher Smith said. "He's going to try to play out his role with us the best he can and to the best of his abilities and he's been doing a great job with that all year. He's continuing to do so until this thing is over."

Burmeister Transfers...Again!

I know I'm in the minority here...but I do not like the transfers portal and I hate the Early Signing Day.

There...I said it...lol.

We are teaching these kids that if you don't like something, then quit.

If you get your feelings hurt...then quit.

If the coach or the ref is not fair...then quit.

And, as I've said many times before...as an employer...I see this all of the time in real life. Kids who feel they are entitled to ...whatever...because nobody ever held them accountable.

Now, in the NCAA, this entitlement has been institutionalized.

I can't even get into the ESD right now....

More Lupoi Leakage

All in all it's gonna be a really good staff. Tosh will probably want to be a HC before too long, but another stint as DC makes sense for him, especially at a place he can win.
And we used to make fun of XBox T.

MBB: 5* Ware Moving up the Charts

Pretty easy to predict some big men checking out the portal with Ware coming in. The rim protector we need.
