Richardson P12 POW, CU Game Canceled Due to UO CV

Bummer. These guys needed to get on a role. It's always tough as heck playing at their place and Utah's. Running out of games to make the tourney. I sure hope they can reschedule.

Why is UW acting like they’re Bama or Clemson?

From what I’ve read it really seems like the huskies think they’re a premier program. If I was a player there or a recruit I would not want to play for a fan base that threatens players and a coaching staff that acts like they’re program is so great they can pick and choose every player they want. I really thought the De boer hire was solid but they are acting like they’re on the same level as Bama and Ohio State.

One more thing and then I'm done venting

Brown was fantastic in the 2nd half. 3 of his best 5 deep balls in the season were in the 2nd half of this game. Why does this piss me off? When the game was completely out of reach, he relaxed and and played well. In my mind that's more irritating than just having him suck all the time. 2021 my least favorite team in 55 years of watching

Kiffen

I never, ever, thought I'd agree with Kiffen....but I guess I do on this matter:

Lane Kiffin sounds off on NIL, transfer portal and offers solutions

Lane Kiffin has spoken at length on college football's new era of "free agency" with name, image and likeness enhancements leading to a record number of players entering the NCAA transfer portal this month. Kiffin, who has no issue with student-athletes being able to come and go as they please, recently went in-depth on what needs to happen in the near future with more parameters being set to protect players.

"It should just be more thought out, to have windows and you know when they're leaving," Kiffin said last week on The Rich Eisen Show. "They should have this, just like coaches do. There's no window. And also, they're not being advised very well. You have thousands of kids going into the portal, but there's not thousands of spots for people to take.

"You put a window (on it). They can only go in at these times. And the NIL should be on a contract."

Broken promises on the recruiting trail are now commonplace in college football thanks to NIL, Kiffin says.

"It's a lot more complicated because you're kind of making it like the NFL where here's your salary cap, but there's not a cap and nothing's on paper," Kiffin said. "Instead of here's your free agent contract, these schools say 'hey, you're going to get this here' and then you hear the stories about them saying that and then they don't get it. Then, you see guys in the portal a year later because they were promised these things and didn't get them.

"Again, in free agency you know who's going in the market in the NFL or (other) sports. This one, you have no idea and every day, here's new ones."

Kiffin says assessing names in the portal list similar to recruiting, though coaching staffs may already have a previous relationship from before that player's original first choice.

The portal has opened a new can of worms and challenges for his own staff, Kiffin says.

"We just have to watch them," Kiffin said. "We actually have players that are on our roster that went into the portal, still playing for us and took official visits ... we even had a player that signed somewhere, but is playing in this game and practicing for us. Think about that? You're the Ravens and your middle linebacker or whatever has already signed next year to play for the Steelers as you're still playing."

Kiffin says changes need to happen sooner rather than later in terms of governance.

"You become a free agent when your contract is up in professional sports," Kiffin said. "You can become a free agent (here) whenever you want. Imagine drafting rookies in their first year and they're not liking how they're playing and they can just leave."

AB Injuries

From the O:

SAN ANTONIO — It was readily apparent Anthony Brown Jr. gutted out numerous injuries this season and with his college career complete the Oregon quarterback admitted as much following the Alamo Bowl.

Brown left the Stony Brook game at halftime after being sacked on back-to-back plays and appearing to favor his neck. His hurt his left wrist on the goal-line fumble against Washington State on Nov. 13. A week later, Brown was bent back awkwardly in the loss at Utah and was clearly gimpy in the second half. In the Pac-12 championship game 13 days later, his right ankle was taped.

“I played through a lot,” Brown said after Oregon’s 47-32 loss to Oklahoma on Wednesday night. “It was hard, but without them (his teammates), I wouldn’t keep going. It hurts, just to play through everything that I’ve been through. Yeah, whether it was the hand, my foot, knee. Didn’t really matter. I didn’t care, because it was all for them. Like I said, they’re my family. I love them. I wouldn’t change anything. I wouldn’t have stopped playing just because of that.

“There wasn’t a nick — there’s a difference between being hurt and being injured. Was I playing on that borderline? Probably. But for them, I’d give my body up. I don’t care.”

Brown ended his college career going 27 of 40 for 306 yards with three touchdowns and an interception and had nine carries for 21 yards against the Sooners. It tied a career high in attempts for the sixth-year senior, who ran for what was by far a career-best 658 yards on the season.
