Introducing Nathan Papandrea to our DSA coverage team ...

I'm very excited to announce our newest addition to the DSA team here. Nathan Papandrea will be doing analysis and film breakdown work for us, starting immediately. He has a really fascinating resume, working both as a coaching intern for an FCS program and in scouting for a sports agency, helping evaluate which NFL draft prospects they should try to represent. He's at the American Football Coaches Association convention in San Antonio right now, making connections, and normally gets out to either the Senior Bowl or the NFL Combine. In short, he knows the game and has a great analytical eye. I've read some of the breakdowns he's done before and it's really in-depth, next-level stuff. I think Nathan is going to bring a unique and compelling dynamic to the coverage team we're putting together here.

Also, he's followed Oregon's program for a long time. I am going to get him involved on the other sites under my purview, but his initial interest was in writing for us here at DSA, so that will end up being the bulk of his work.

He can tell you a lot more about himself, though, and answer any questions you have. He's still at the AFCA convention today, so allow him some time to respond to everything, but he's fired up to be a part of what we're doing, and I am thrilled we were able to get him involved here. He should also be another great voice for the banter on the board here.

I am still working on finding our person in the ground in Eugene, so our staff is not complete yet. There will still be another announcement to come, but things are really coming together.

Winston Still Looking Around

Looks like it includes his Sr film. He's showing a lot of enthusiasm towards Lanning and co,. and especially with the loss of Moss, I hope we get him. I'm no talent evaluator, but when he scoops the ball up on several occasions he out runs everyone on the field. Some of his tackling looks kinda grabby, but he's so much bigger, faster and stronger than those around him, he gets away with it. When he wants to lay it out there, he does. Looks like the player people were expecting as he 1st came on to the scene a few years ago. The best Winston yet?

SOURCE: Jags D-line Tosh Lupoi is expected to be formally announced Wednesday as Oregon’s new DC. Lupoi was Alabama’s DC in 2018, when the Tide led the SEC in TFLs and sacks; and was No. 3 in total defense. The 40-year-old has spent the past four seasons coaching in the NFL.

2023 5-star PG announces top 8

Five-star, top-10 junior point guard Kylan Boswell released his top 8 today. Oregon made the list along with Arizona, USC, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Texas Tech and UNLV. He's an Illinois native who grew up in the Champaign area so the Illini have been involved heavily. He visited there in the fall and he's made a couple trips to Arizona plus USC and UCLA previously. Ducks have some work to do from the sounds of it right now.

And so it begins.....

My guess is that the next 3 weeks are going to be putting a smile on all Duck fan faces. There are going to be some big time transfers, and surprise recruits, to fill out this class. No inside info. I just love the staff Lanning has put together. Almost all of them have been recruiting coordinators, OC's, DC's, or 2 of the three. Usually when you hire guys form the NFL, the worry is can they recruit. The guys Lanning got from the NFL have already proven to be great recruiters. All this and Lanning coming off a National championship in which his defense dominated. Should not be a problem getting into living rooms. Let the visits begin

Pac-12 statement on CFP expansion

The Pac-12 is strongly in favor of CFP expansion, and we support all of the six most-discussed expansion models that would allow for expansion to occur in time for the final two years of the current CFP agreement. These six models include:

1. Qualification for the best 12 teams;
2. Automatic qualifications (AQs) for the six highest rated conference champions and six at-large bids (“6+6”) (the original proposal made by the CFP sub-committee in June of 2021);
3. AQs for the Autonomy Five conferences and one AQ for the highest ranked Group of Five champion, along with six at-large bids (“5+1+6”);
4. Qualification for the best eight teams;
5. AQs for the six highest rated conference champions and two at-large bids (“6+2”); and
6. AQs for the Autonomy Five conferences and one AQ for the highest ranked Group of Five champion, along with two at-large bids (“5+1+2”)

Due to the existing CFP voting structure, to expand beyond the current four-team CFP model during the current CFP agreement term requires unanimous consent of all 11 CFP Board members. It is clear none of the six most-discussed expansion models has unanimous consent, with most having considerable opposition, and every conference other than the Pac-12 has indicated that they would be against at least one of the proposed models.

If all 11 CFP members are unable to agree unanimously on a new format, then no expansion can occur in the current term, and our collective focus must turn to expansion immediately following the current term. The CFP has confirmed that we have another two years before we would need to come to agreement on an expanded format that could begin immediately after the current term ends.

The Pac-12 will continue to take a solution-oriented and flexible approach to allow for CFP expansion to occur as soon as possible.

After watching the Georgia D...anyone want to trade?

Dan Lanning for Wilcox, Chip, MC, or any other coach that was actually a prospective HC candidate? NO FLIPPN WAY!
On another note...I personally am damn glad we didn’t have DuckFan37 negotiate his contract so Lanning would be taking his staff and defensive prowess to a different University!🙈🤣 I loved this hire from Day 1 and after watching how aggressive and disciplined that D was tonight...I couldn’t be more thrilled & excited for the future of DUCKS football! #Let’sGoDantheMan💪😎☝️🍻

2023 OL Elijah Paige update

Here is a quick update on 2023 offensive lineman Elijah Paige from Phoenix, Arizona. He plays at Pinnacle High School (where Spencer Rattler played) and has already started to see quite a bit of interest from around the country. His recruitment is starting to take off a bit with a bunch of new offers in recent weeks. Oregon is one of the schools that jumped in with an offer last month. Paige is taking his time with the process but plans to take a lot of visits soon. Oregon is one school that is high up on his priority visit list.

As he says in the story he didn't want to call Oregon his dream school, but in my conversation with him it is clear the offer from the Ducks is a really big one for him. He's really athletic and someone who could play either tackle or guard but right now he plays left tackle.

Another addition to our DSA staff coming this week ...

I'll have another addition to our DSA team to announce in a day or so, and I'm very excited about what he's going to bring to the table for us in terms of analysis, film breakdown, etc. Most importantly, he knows the Oregon program and this roster. I'm going to get him involved on a couple other sites too, but he's most interested in contributing here. I just want to give everybody a heads up that the final dominoes are in the works behind the scenes.
