Derek Colman Brusa is a 3-star Class of 2026 weakside defensive end who is ranked No. 4 in the state and No. 22 at the position who has 12 offers, including from Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, and Southern Cal.

Colman-Brusa who was at Oregon's game vs. Ohio State on Oct. 12, stuck around to watch the Ducks practice on Mon. Oct, 14, where he got a closer look into the inside of Oregon’s operation. “I just really love the tempo they practice at. The energy was really there, the juice was really there,” he said.

He talked about sitting in on the team meeting before-hand, which he described as pivotal. “That was very, very critical,” he said.

Colman-Brusa talked about a moving speech from head coach Dan Lanning. The defensive lineman from Seattle described the story of the 20-mile march in detail. “I’m not sure if you’ve heard that story, but it’s about the story of the two teams that raced to the North Pole. One was very inconsistent, and one was very consistent. The (team) that was very inconsistent perished and died,” he said.

And Colman-Brusa said that speech further ties into the relentless attitude of the Ducks and the overall message of their program’s culture. “You know, I love the culture (Lanning) is bringing. It’s a very hard-working, consistent culture. And I think he will be able to maintain that in the future. I’m excited about what Oregon is going to do during the rest of this season and during the playoffs,” he said.

This is a small excerpt of his full interview with me, which will be fully released in an article and a recording that I will make available to the group.

OT: Why, We, Our Fathers and Grandfathers Served?

I didn't. I was just young enough to miss Vietnam, but my grandfather served and was mustard gassed in WW I and my Dad, may he RIP, was in training for WW II when it ended. He was in Officer Training, so he got a full ride to complete his medical degree at UM and then served during the Korean War. My best friend's father in the UK was in the Battle of Britain flying hurricanes to save Britain. My best friend's Dad in NC flew for the Navy in Korea and and Vietnam. My wife and I just lost a close friend who was awarded the Silver and Bronze Star's, along with a Purple heart in WWII. I know we have active and retired service members on the Board, but I don't know who ya'll are. Why did you/they do it? What is the higher calling, and why beckon to it? Could it be there is something bigger than ourselves? In times like these, it should seem obvious, but I fear it's not. Why serve the USA? And gratitude to those who did!

Ill NOISE SCORE GUESSING RESULTS

Wow ... seven people were lined up on that 38. Guess you are getting close to understanding the Ducks .. we'll see if that continues with the visit to the big house. Adam carried the day witha near perfect prediction but he was doomed as soon as the Illini lined up for the two point conversion. Miss it, which they did, puts it a point short or make it is one too many on the high side. Still, great job, Adam you just didn't figure the coach was and idiot. Some really good results for a lot of you ..
