Oregon dropped to 109 from 98. Oregon has the second lowest academic ranking in the Big 10… above only Nebraska.
To put this even more in prospective, the school that Oregon is playing on Saturday
is ranked 15 and is the top ranked public university in the country. The lowest ranked University of California school, UC Santa Cruz, is still ranked 25 places above Oregon. Oregon tied with California public universities in their lower tier CSU system , Long Beach State and San Diego State.
Oregon did way out rank Oregon State and Washington State. However, I find it disappointing that with all the optimistic news about our university’s scholastic gains, Oregon’s ranking actually went down. At this point, our university is not typical of a Big 10 or ACC university. Our university looks more typical of the academic stature of the Big 12 or the SEC.
The University has received some huge donations and we can hope that it is just a matter of time before Oregon can move up to a more impressive ranking, but for this past year Oregon is dropping.
Oregon ranks higher than football powers Alabama, Oklahoma, and LSU…. just not nearly as high as public universities like UC Davis, Virginia , North Carolina or UC Santa Barbara etc.
Interestingly, the top CSU football school, Fresno State, had one of the poorest rankings among the CSUs. Don’t confuse the CSUs with the UCs. The UCs are much stronger academically… and regrettably currently still out of Oregon’s league
