Tyriq Blanding made the long trip from New York to Eugene over the weekend as part of a Northwest swing that brought him on campus for a couple days with the Ducks. He was able to watch the spring game and meet up with Seven McGee all while building a stronger bond with the program overall. Blanding says he speaks with Tony Tuioti daily, and they have built a good connection so far in the process. Oregon really left him impressed and the meeting with McGee proved to be especially important since it gave him some confidence that a move from New York wouldn't be as challenging as he thinks it could be.

Watching the team work with the new coaches really was a highlight for him, though, and it is something that has stuck with him since leaving campus.

“Seeing them go to work it was really good. They’re not the type of coaches that are yelling all the time. I was talking to them, and they don’t believe in that yelling stuff. They’re calm, everybody listens to them. When they talk everybody listens, and you really learn a lot from them. I got to learn new techniques, and they’ve seen my film. We were going over my film, and I really learned a lot from them.”
