In a previous thread Mikegar asked who are some of the big names that UO is recruiting and what are our chances. I don't know all of the athletes that Oregon has offered, or that have Oregon in their final group, but I can tell you what I do know about Oregon Track recruiting.
Here is a list of some of the athletes that have Oregon among their final choices.

Weini Kelati Leesburg Va.

Super star distance runner. She can't run her high school senior year because she is 19 and that is over the age limit for high school competition in Virginia. That didn't stop her from winning the Girl's 5k at the New Balance Nationals where she set a national record of 16:08.33. Last year she had the fastest high school time in the nation in the girls 3200 and the 2 mile. The fastest 1500m time last year was run by UO verbal commit Kate Murphy and the fastest 3000 time was run by current UO freshman Katie Rainsberger. Getting Weini would kind of run the table for girl's middle distance/distance elites.

Weini's four official visits are to Boise State, Alabama, New Mexico, and Oregon. She is also considering Virginia and NC State but only took unofficial visits to those places because they are so close to her home. What are UO chances?....hard to tell, but UO is in her final 6.

Jared Briere Woonesocket, Rhode Island

The # 3 ranked high school hammer thrower in the nation with a throw last spring of 208-1.

He has made an official visit to UO. He is also being heavily recruited by William and Mary, LSU, and Wisconsin...maybe more but that is all that I know. What are the UO chances?....well they are in his final group.

Lauryn Ghee Chesapeake Va.

In my opinion, Lauryn is the nation's top girl's high school track and field athlete.

She isn't a super star. She is THE super star. She has 10 Va. state high school records. Virginia is a state loaded with high school track and field talent. Lauren is ranked #2 in the nation in the 200, #8 in the 100, #7 in the 400, #7 in the Indoor 55,. She has high jumped 5'8" She is a good long jumper. She's run a 2:18 800. She can help a team in a multitude of ways. Ultimately she will either become a world class 200m runner or a world class heptathlete. I'm thinking the later.

Lauryn is down between Tennessee, LSU, Florida, and Oregon......fingers and toes crossed!

Lauren Rain Williams, Oaks Christian HS, Westlake Village Ca.

The top ranked high school girl's 100 and 200m sprinter in the country. In 2015 she was the IAAF World Junior Silver Medal winner. She has clocked an incredible 22:44 aw in the 200.She has the nations top high school 100m time in 11.17....that's as a junior! Lauren is unquestionably the top girl's high school sprinter in the country.

She has visited USC, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and has one visit left and that is to Oregon. Some think that she is a USC lean, but until she visits UO no one knows. She'd be a huge get! With the three best 200m runners in the country, including two Olympians, we have a good shot to land this phenom.

Joseph Anderson Upland Ca

The # 3 ranked high school boy's 110m hurdler in the country, with a time of 13.59 #2 indoor 55m hurdler with a time of 7.82. California State high school champion in the 110h last spring as a junior. Big time talent.

He will be making an early signing to either Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Syracuse or Oregon. We'll just have to wait to find out, but two UO Ducks were in the 110h finals in Rio! That's got to impress an aspiring high school hurdler!

Alyssa Wilson ,Toms River New Jersey

One of the greatest girl's throwers in US high school history. She's gone 56-8.25 in the shot, 155-4 in the discus, and took 4th in the hammer at the USTF juniors with 191-2. Her shot put is #1 in the nation among high schoolers and 5th in US high school history. She took 2nd at the New Balance Nationals in the discus. Alyssa rivals Lauryn Ghee as the top girl's track and field athlete in the class of 2017.

Alyssa has five visits...Oregon, Auburn, Tennessee, UCLA, and Wisconsin. She has taken her Oregon trip. Duck track fans are salivating over the prospect of landing this special athlete.

Well there you have it. There are, no doubt, more, but these are some of the top talents that I am aware of that have Oregon high on their short list. Today's near miss with Chloe Cavazos was a disappointment, but compared to the folks that I just mentioned she'd be last on the wish list.

The early signing date is Nov 9. We have already received three verbals from elite high school track athletes.....can we get more? bet on it!
