It's a strong possibility that the Ducks start the year with 3 blowout wins.

CMC has said often that the staff plans to use the new redshirt rule strategically. "Playing time is earned," he said.

He's suggested that it's a possibility that BOTH Braxton Burmeister and Tyler Shough could redshirt. Redshirts can appear in four games now. Use one against Bowling Green, the other against Portland State, and maybe both in the San Jose State game.

The Ducks deserve some good football karma on the quarterback injury front. They haven't played Washington State with a healthy, experienced starting quarterback for the last three years. Good seasons were derailed in 2017 and 2015. In between, the Prukop experiment was a dismal failure.

Four questions:

How much time do you give the starters? How long do they stay in, until a 42-point lead, until 50?

Sluggish second halves and poor halftime adjustments were a problem last year under Taggart. With a blowout margin, do you keep Justin Herbert, Tony Brooks-James, and the starting offensive line in the game at least through the first possession of the third quarter?

This seems like an excellent opportunity to develop depth in the receiving corps. How aggressively do you rotate them in the first 3 games, knowing you have a decided matchup advantage over those opponents?

How much do you keep the playbook under wraps, staying plain vanilla with Stanford coming on September 22nd.

10 days until kickoff.
