I was able to watch the women's game on BIG network TV and it was a treat. I'll try to watch the men on B1G+ later today after I finish making my pot of cream of mushroom soup.

UCLA and and Oregon were tied for first in the conference going in as far as the women were concerned. The Bruin men had a three game lead over the second place Oregon.

In the Jane, UCLA outhit the ducks and looked like the better team on offense with the minor point that two of the Duck hits left the park and brought in all three Oregon runs. UCLA finally got their dinger with two out and the bases empty in the 7th. Averaging less than three K's per game and having a high (low?) watermark of 8 vs Iowa in a loss, the Bruins are a solid contact hitting team. Oregon's two pitchers knocked set them down looking or swinging 10 times. Both teams got nice plays from outfielders and played flawless defense, including the choices they made.

The men now trail by only two games. The contest was obviously a pitchers battle decided by a homerun (Jacob?) I watch on the post game baseball and softball show. Not sure how Oregon got the first run or how the bruins got their lone tally.

Good start for the weekend with work yet to do for both teams over the next couple of days.
