It has been my contention for many years that Oregon is the most famous American sports university in the world, and that Hayward Field is the most famous American college stadium in the world.( unless you count the LA Coliseum.) That is because track is a huge international sport. After the World Championships, it only became more true. Now, with this new prestigious international college sports’ collective, you had better believe it is true. It is an elite group athletically and or intellectually.
They may not be talking about this in Lincoln, Nebraska or Tuscaloosa, Alabama but who cares about that when you are among the elite in the world?
Notice that there are two US universities among the 9, UO and MIT. MIT is one of the top research universities in the world!
This is what every university president would love to have… and Oregon has it!
