I think this year now takes on a renewed urgency. The coaching staff, mostly young, has proven to be excellent in every area: recruiting, game day prep, in game adjustments, improvement during the season. Lanning doesn't have an obvious dream school to return to and I think he will stay until he is sure that he can't win a national title or can win one sooner someplace else. The rest of this staff is still climbing the coaching ladder and will be targeted annually. Lanning has done well with the initial staff. He will be challenged to continue to find the same quality of replacements when the time comes (hopefully not this year).

Next year we lose at least 3, probably 4, offensive linemen and Nix. If Dillingham gets a head coaching job, we will have a new quarterback, new line, and new coordinator! I expect the defense to improve each year, but right now it is the offense that separates us from the pac(k). Recruiting will be even better, but that won't immediately produce a championship. This is the best chance for the next two or three years to get to the playoffs and win a national championship.
