Today we celebrate the Independence of our nation. As we do so, please be responsible and respectful of the day and the moments which led to this day.
Over the course of the last few months, I have been reading an in-depth biography of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The book is a fascinating look at two of the 'Virginia Dynasty' Presidents from the origin of our nation. They were flawed men, as are each of us, but full of passion and idealism as well.
I have been fortunate enough to visit Monticello twice and made it to Montpellier this past year. Take a moment today to appreciate the history of our nation. That history has its bumps and bruises; it has its warts; but it is still a history that has led us to this moment - a moment of liberty.
