Marcus Chambers was the talk of the meet for the Oregon men.

Here is a quote from Marcus Chambers:

"We have the best fans in the country, so we just want to go out there, compete, try to win every single race," Chambers said. "We want to dominate everybody we go against and show them that we're working hard, and we're trying to bring back another outdoor title."

Chambers won the 200 in 20.71, the 400 in 47.09, and ran the anchor leg on the victorious Oregon 4x400 relay team. Marcus Chambers might be showing some of the promise duck fans had for him when was recruited out of high school. This might be a great story to follow.

Elsewhere.....football players Charles Nelson and Tony James were on the 4x100 relay team that did not finish due to an exchange problem. Later in the meet, James won the 100m in 10.72. Nelson finished 5th (last) in 10.94.

Charles Nelson finished third in the long jump with 23-06.75 (he jumped into the wind)....Oregon Freshman Nate Moore won both the long jump and the triple jump with 24-08.25 and 51-01.00.

In a showdown between the NCAA's two best javelin throwers, Kentucky's Canadian National Champion, Raymond Dykstra finished first with a throw of 249-01 and Oregon's Sam Crouser finished a disappointing second with a throw of 246-08.They'll meet again when the NCAA Championships come to Hayward Field in June....let's hope for a reverse in that outcome.

Although the Duck men dominated their two opponents , Washington and Kentucky, the women were in a super close contest with Kentucky. It all came down to the last event, the women's triple jump with Oregon's Jasmine Todd and Sasha Wallace finishing 1,2 in an upset victory in the event to seal the Oregon women's victory over a highly ranked Kentucky opponent.

The highlight was the men's 5000, in which the three ducks Edward Cheserek, Eric Jenkins, and Will Geohagen (transfer from Dartmouth) intentionally all crossed the finish line together....a sign of team spirit.
