Strong rumor has Austin apparently taking a job with Michigan, focusing on Internet sports coverage. He has been a very thought provoking writer for the Register Guard, but I suppose we should have expected this loss of a talented sportswriter, along with the diminished impact of the daily written press. If Austin is actually leaving, let's hope the new R-G owners will at least continue to cover sports, though they have not done a good job since taking over from the Baker family.
