I was thinking this last night. I don't know where Taggart was on the Duck wish list after all the interviews, but my feeling is that they got the very best guy. Obviously he has not won a game yet, but I'm talking about today, would you trade him for any of the coaches discussed as candidates?
There is no way Chip, or anyone else would be out hitting the bricks for talent like this staff a is doing. Taggart is way cooler than any of the candidates and that fits the national perception of Oregon to a tee. This is a key point. The Ducks were already cool, with very uncool head coaches in Chip and Helfrich!! Now , the head coach is both cool and seemingly filled with substance as well. For those would say, "can he coach", well, he feels like a new up and comer , but in fact at age 40, he has already proven himself as both a recruiter and a X and O guy. He turned around not one , but 2 programs and he is only 40 years old
Finally, the biggest thing is that other coaches know, and there is no way guys like Salavea and Cristabol left only for the money. The coaches on this staff are the ones that believe in him and ALL of them worked for more well known coaches. If they didn't think he was a winner, they would not have come.
