All around us we've watched the door mats of the Pac 12 get up off the mat. The Buffs are real and iIf anyone bothered to watch the Ute/Beav game, you'd have to respect defenses on both sides, but especially the Beavs who've proved coaching and finding hidden talent with character can produce moments of respectability in an uneven year.
Earlier, we watched Cal stop the Utes in a goal line stand. And Cougs trash Stanford and lead UCLA.
I bring these up as challenges to our program, not for replacement of anyone.
What we have before us is an opportunity to evaluate coaching, recruitment and performance going forward in the last half of the season. What we have we will most certainly know at the end when we play the Beavs.
The temptation will be to throw it all in before our kids have a say so. That would be a disrespect to all we hold dear as Duck fans. If we are true fans we will hold the line and standby our soldiers to the end. And if in the end our generals have failed to lead, recruit, and lose faith in the troops, we shouldn't hesitate to demand respectability.
