Ducks Add Walker to Top-10 Class

EUGENE, Ore, — Five-star recruit C.J. Walker from Sanford, Fla., has signed a National Letter of Intent with Oregon, head coach Dana Altman announced Wednesday.

"We are really fortunate to add C.J. to this class," said Altman. "He is a highly skilled player from a great basketball family. Coach Tony Stubblefield developed a strong relationship with C.J. and his family and we are really excited to have them join our program."

Walker joins Chris Duarte, Isaac Johnson and Chandler Lawson in the Ducks’s 2019 recruiting class that now ranks ninth nationally according to Rivals.com. This is the fourth straight top-12 recruiting class for coach Altman and the staff, and the program’s second-straight top-10 class.

C.J. Walker, 6-8, 198, Sanford, Fla. (Oak Ridge High School)

Five-star recruit with a scout grade of 92 according to espn.com … Ranked 19th in ESPN’s top 100 for the 2019 recruiting class … Rivals also lists Walker as a five-star and is 24th nationally … the No. 30 player overall according to 247Sports … Averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks over 16 games during the Nike EYBL circuit … Averaged 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game at the Peach Jam … Spent his freshman season at Seminole of Sanford and his sophomore and junior seasons at Orlando Christian Prep before transferring to Oak Ridge for his senior campaign … Led Orlando Christian Prep to back-to-back state championship titles … Netted 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the state championship game his junior season.

Versatile player considered one of the top junior college transfers in the nation … Appeared in all 32 games for the Raiders, helping lead them to an impressive 29-3 record in 2017-18 … Averaged 12.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game during his freshman campaign for NWF … Shot 55 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range … Earned first team all-Panhandle Conference honors … Dropped 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in the FCSAA state championship game where the Raiders claimed the title … Integral part of NWF’s lineup during their run to the Elite Eight in the NJCAA tournament … Named a preseason First Team “Super Sophomore” by Street and Smith’s Basketball Magazine for the 2018-19 season … Rated by 247Sports as the fifth-best high school player in the state of New York in 2016-17, where he spent the season at Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, N.Y. … Also played with the New York Lightning AAU program … Born in Montreal and raised in the Dominican Republic.

Isaac Johnson, 6-11, 235, American Fork, Utah (American Fork High School)

Four star recruit with a scout grade of 88 according to ESPN.com … Ranked 53rd in ESPN’s top 100 for the 2019 recruiting class … Ranked as the No. 1 recruit from the state of Utah … Averaged 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game during his junior campaign in 2017-18 … Hit 25 three-pointers as a junior for American Fork … Earned third-team Class 6A Deseret News all-state honors … Expected to make a two year LDS mission trip following high school graduation and will join the Ducks as a freshman for the 2021-22 season.

Chandler Lawson, 6-8, 200, Memphis, Tenn. (Wooddale High School)

Four star recruit with a scout grade of 86 according to ESPN … Ranked as the 58th recruit in ESPN’s top 100 for the class of 2019 … Listed as the nation’s 14th best power forward by 247sports.com … Won three straight TSSAA AAA state championships with Memphis East High School … Scored in 11 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and recorded two assists in the 2018 state championship game en route to victory for Memphis East … Earned TSSAA AAA most valuable player honors as a sophomore … Transferred to Wooddale High School for his final high school season where he will be coached by his father Keelon Lawson … Played in 11 games in the Nike EYBL circuit for the Bluff City Legends, averaging 12.4 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game.
