I just got done with watching today's practice. They let media in for about the first 35 minutes or so today. It went so fast seemed like five minutes.

  • Noah Sewell is a huge guy. He is easily the largest of the linebacker corps. He was not practicing today although he was suited down and going around with the LB group, just not doing drills. We were told before practice several players were sick but I don't think he was one of them. So maybe a minor ding or something.
  • Daewood Davis is back at WR, and they are applying for a sixth year for OL George Moore.
  • Watched new CB coach Rod Chance for awhile. He certainly knows what he is doing, although I noticed his drills were not going rapid fire like other positions. Seemed like he was referring to his practice schedule/planner a bit. I totally get it being his first day of practice here and he being a relatively young coach. I'm sure his guys will be getting max reps in no time.
  • Moorhead on the other hand hit the ground running. You could not tell this was his first day of practice. He has coached for a long, long time and looked comfortable as could be out there.
  • The 1st and 2nd string OL today were these guys
  • I loved Jay Butterfield's arm and release. I like the way the ball gets out of his hand briskly. He does not have to muscle throws, he is smooth. Certainly not saying he will be the starter lol, but he looked good for a first day throwing the football in practice here.
  • JJ Greenfield seemed pretty comfortable for a first day guy. He was moving to the music during warmups just like the vets do.
  • He is kind of skinny. So is Bennett Williams. I would like to see both guys a little thicker.
  • Lots of good energy out there. Did not seem like a nervous energy, seemed like an excited group who want to win the Pac-12 again.
  • I took a bunch of photos and if any of them are decent will share below.
  • All for now.
