Tomorrow I will just be bringing beer and snacks. The reality is that there have been very few people coming by and our food waste has been pretty high.
When I first started hosting tailgates in 2009, we had upwards of 20-30 people showing up every week.
In 2014, tickets priced out a segment of our regulars.
In 2016, the 4-8 record sapped a LOT of energy from fans. 2019 saw a nice rebound, but the 2020 season essentially destroyed our tradition.
We have not really recovered the tradition of our tailgates. We have a somewhat older base here, most of whom watch from home.
Next year my wife and I will likely get a RV spot at the Boyscout or Masonic lot. We will still tailgate, but it will be more about chatting than massive parties. Everyone here is always welcome and I will post our spot, it just won't be the big production we have tried to maintain.
