I was out of touch most of the weekend. My dad had to go to the hospital on Thursday and so I spent most of the day Saturday at the hospital and running errands for him. Today I spent with my wife (she is far more neglected this summer than years past due to the non-stop news and my father's health, so figured I could be out of touch for a few hours)

In the interim, here are some things I have been able to get information on:

- Yes, Reitmaier is transferring and is likely to be closer to home. In the end, this was not simply a 'distance issue' in the same way that hardly any decision is a single factor decision. There are always multiple factors that lead to a player leaving.

- No one here has tried to speculate about his absence from the Jesuit scrimmage, which is good. There tend to be far too many rumors that are unsubstantiated garbage. don't believe something an anonymous 'insider' says. If their name is not out there, it's easy to talk trash about someone. Reitmaier worked hard during spring practices, he was very talented and that did not change because he chose to leave the program.

- Will the Ducks sign a huge 30 person class in 2018? I don't think so. With all of this attrition, it is easy to predict that every spot will be filled by the staff for the class of 2018, but look at the class of 2019 and you might see that the coaches cannot simply sign every open spot for 2018. The Ducks have just 9 spots for the class of 2019 as it stands (10 if we project Justin Herbert to leave early). There is no way that the staff is going to want to sign just 9 or 10 guys in a class. They are going to want to even it out just a bit.

- They won't be able to sign 25 in 2019 under most scenarios, but they would like to get in the 15-18 range for that class which means that they are going to have to have 5-10 'open' spots for the class. The more people signed in 2018, the more lopsided the classes will become and this will become a real problem down the road.

- There was plenty of talk about the potential for multiple commits last week. I said to 'slow the roll' on this talk last weekend for a reason. None became public this week. One was not accurate; the rumor started with a different commits parent; one who had no actual knowledge of the situation.

- It's not a surprise at this point, but expect SNL to be a big event; but don't be surprised if it gets downplayed by everyone outside of Oregon. Why? Because many other schools have been doing something similar for a while now. In this regard, Oregon is playing catch-up.

- Deion Sanders' son was offered this weekend as a quarterback. But escaping the attention of many is that Ray Woodie was at the prime 21 Football Camp this weekend. I am told that Woodie has not given up entirely on Kalon Gervin. He has been trending to Virginia Tech for a while; and then Bama jumped in with a late visit for the CB. But Woodie has not given up on the Cass Tech product. The Ducks are going to continue pushing for Gervin because they really feel that good about his potential.

- Scott Pagano had some work done but should be good to go for the season opener. While the future took some hit with the loss of Reitmaier, the addition of Pagano and Austin Faoliu are both critical. Pagano will fill an immediate need and Faoliu will be a potential impact player down the road. Depth takes a bit of a hit, but Diallo steps in for the 2018 class and could be an important piece.

That's all I have for now. Will see what else I can dig up...
