I don't like to be the sour grapes guy. So when WT was hired I never passed along some of the comments from my counterpart at USF. In fact, I thought it was sour grapes on his part and that is why I didn't report it.

But, he gave me a run down of the good and the bad about WT. The good was simply he could recruit the area.

The bad list was longer.
  • He said that Taggart was an unproven X and O coach, something we saw in spades this last year. FSU will find this out soon enough.
  • Taggart was very selfish and wanted the limelight for himself, but not for his assistants. He liked to take credit for all the great recruiting even when it was the assistants who were doing all the work. Taggart made himself available for interviews basically every day that was open to reporters. The assistants were available just once per week here, and never after games.
  • Taggart had no loyalty except to himself. Well...
So like in all things, the good comes with the bad. For my part, I am ecstatic to have Cristobal as the new HC and I feel in the long run, will be much better for the program.

I am very much looking forward to covering this football team next year. I predict big things for the program.
