I caught up with Rex to get his perspective on the 4-3 and spring camp. Manu should see plenty of playing time at one of the two interior DT positions.

So far the weeks have gone by really fast. We’re just putting in our installs and learning the new defense.

On the new 4-3 base defense

For me personally it is the same kind of defense that I ran in high school. So it’s something that I’m used to and it’s good to be back to it. Coming here my freshman year and having to two-gap, that was something new. But now that we’ve got this new defense it is back to normal. Now I’m just getting used to playing at college speed.

On which OL are standing out to him this spring

The returners like Doug Brenner and Jake Pisarcik, they always put up a tough fight. They are really strong men. A young face you probably know is Jake Hanson at center. He has taken to it really well and he is a good combination of finesse and power. He is really difficult for me personally.
