Just finished with Fall practice #6 which was in full pads Thursday morning. Here are my observations from the half hour of action we got to see.

  • Every time I watch the WR group I get excited. So much athleticism, so many guys who have the potential to be very good.
  • Juwan Johnson has gotten lots of press for his spring ball play, but today I noticed how hard he is working in practice. He lines of first to get the first rep of any drill, then he kept getting back in line, and the coaches would give him one last rep even though the drill was "over". Very nice
  • JR Waters did a nice job again, as did Mycah Pittman. I would not be surprised to see at least two frosh WR get plenty of game snaps this year.
  • Walking wounded, I saw Cam McCormick and Lance Wilhoite both doing rehab work today.
  • Also, looked like Jamal Hill was not working out today after injuring himself yesterday.
  • Brenden Schooler was watching practice and it was cool seeing Coach Feld spend time with him so he wouldn't be standing there all alone.
  • Looks like Bryan Addison is full go. I wasn't sure earlier in camp but today he seemed to be participating in all the drills.
  • Talking yesterday about Stud LB, I was saying great competition between Bryson Young and D.J. Johnson. Silly of me to not mention Mase Funa. Watching them today, I realized it would not totally shock me to see him beat one or both those guys out. In other words, Stud LB is in great shape this year with a solid three-deep.
  • And safety too, really. You have seven guys I could see playing: Holland Hallassie, Pickett, Breeze, Stephens, and then the two freshmen Hill and Bridges. Wow, that's a lot of depth.
  • Not quite as much energy today as yesterday which makes sense because you can't dial it up to 11 every day. You would burn your team out. But still it was a normal, efficient practice.
  • Pictures and some videos coming, but all for now.
