My apologies all; been a bit hectic, frustrating and now worrisome few weeks around here. Won't bore you with the work details, but a brief update on the rest.
My wife and I spent our weekend in Myrtle Beach celebrating our anniversary. We had a fabulous time (finally found some good beer down there); their aquarium was awesome; had dinner at a very nice restaurant and some tremendous conversation.
Being so far away from our children(slash dogsitters) makes travel unique, but we found an awesome place called Pet Paradise. They take phots, have a pool and big play yard; give special treats and even spend 'cuddle time' with the pets to make them feel at home. Our lab Pepper LOVES the place.
When we picked him up Sunday, all was normal. We got home, played some fetch and then he went to bed as normal. By Monday afternoon he had gone totally blind. We took him to the vet, they saw no retinal damage, but referred us to a veterinary ophthalmologist. We took him there today and they ruled out everything they can - which is actually not great news. She said he has optical nerve damage, but typically when the optical nerve starts to fail, there is not an acute sight loss, but a gradual one.
So tomorrow morning we have to take him to a veterinary neurologist for an MRI to see if they can decipher this issue. Needless to say, for those who have seen my hundred (and thousands) of Facebook pictures, Pepper has been my sidekick for 9 years. He is always with me on my deck and this is a very, very difficult time for us.
I have not been able to post much with so many things going on - just wanted to update everyone.
