Recall Armstead really wanted to play both--. they said he could. Yet after some time on the BB team he decided to just go with FB. Good thing he did, as he, Buckner and Balducci were a handful, he ended up a high pick with a nice contract.
Times have changed a bit since the days of the two sport TE's mentioned by Dale, not to mention AA's childhood idol, former UNC two way, Julious Peppers.Man, it was fun watching Peppers dominating guys around the rim...but not as much fun as watching him run through OL's and slamming RB's and QB's to the turf, lol.Peppers didn't play BB his last year before the NFL draft either.
I've read Oregonian articles assuming, with no analysis or explanation, TQ "couldn't play Ducks BB," but I'm not so sure he couldn't try-- as AA did. The recruiting classes AA, Buckner, Brown, "Too Tall" were in were all comprised of all state caliber two way athletes. I hope they say he "can give it a try" so he doesn't go to the Beav's. Then just let it play itself out. If he does go to the Beav's and is a two way, so be it, but he'd sure be a nice addition to this class..
