I can remember back when Alliotti retired and there were discussions on boards about who would be the next coordinator. Pellum and Neal were internal candidates but my favorites at the time were Orlando and DeRuyter. We all know how that worked out. I am really happy to see DeRuyter on staff. His defensive pedigree is top notch. Plus, he immediately helps to potentially improve upon or help the coaching of the secondary and the LB’s. The likes of Chance, Heyward, Wilson and Joe brainstorming and scheming with DeRuyter should be awesome to watch on the field. Here’s hoping to a full spring to actually teach and implement his D.
