I'm not a big fan of John Canzano. He's done several chop jobs on the Oregon Ducks over the years, wanting to be a controversial and contrarian figure like Howard Cosell was in the '60s and '70s.
Even so, he had a great interview with Mario Cristobal on Monday night. Canzano asked the coach if he'd made notice of the struggles that Willie Taggart and Chip Kelly have had since leaving Oregon, if he's considered how good he has it as coach at UO.
Oregon's second-year head coach responded:
“This is like, how can it get better for someone like me? The way the circumstances and how it unfolded, the amount of gratitude, the amount of feeling blessed, therefore the investment in return, the dedication and commitment in return... come on brother, I exhaust every ounce of what I have on a daily basis for the love of the game and also for being thankful and having gratitude for this opportunity.”
"We’re surrounded by awesome people (at Oregon). These are awesome dudes... one thing I know for sure, nonsense and untruthfulness never, ever worked for me or my family, parents, everything. Everything we do, the foundation of everything, is based on trust and truth.”
Then he added something.
“I know I kind of went on a rant there, brother, but there’s a lot to that.”
