I looked at the SJ Mercury’s Sports page listing where local high school football players signed. To my surprise Jay Butterfield was listed as an Oregon signee.
I thought that Butterfield was from Brentwood in Southern California. So I did some checking and discovered that there is a Brentwood in the Bay Area. It is located in the East Bay, not far from Berkeley.
Well Well Well ! This calls for a special congratulations for Mr Butterfield. You follow a long line of great Duck QBs from the Bay Area.... including Norm Van Brocklin, Bob Berry, Dan Fouts, and Dennis Dickson.
