Of course I haven't read the details on the "agreement" but, no matter what the wording is, I can't see this going anywhere but to court with Title IX on one side of the courtroom. Goes to show, in light of reluctance to give women a fair chance to win medals, this is all going to be about money. It will be interesting to dive into the details in the coming days, with leadership from Scott and our legal guys.

My early thought is that this will be the end of the NCAA regarding power 4 football, as they try to separate themselves from the pay window for other sports. Non gridiron athletes might even have the best chance outside of the power 5 if their football teams can contribute to the funding, but that could be a really big "if". There was only one school in the old PAC12 with a statement in the black. I'm imaging the diseased state run's through most power 5 schools but have no idea how it works in the others.

Even if the separation happens, will there still be a lot of billable hours to decided who gets paid what in football and in the minor sports, probably now including Basketball?

Thinking a little further down the line, will schools now "rent" their stadiums and facilities to the teams? Will they take a bigger cut of concessions1?. Who gets what from gear and souvenir sales? Will the teams have to pay to use the university name and mascots? (if they even continue to identify with the schools). Will coaches in some state schools continue to accrue retirement pay as state employees? Will there still be football scholarships or will the players (the ones who care) have to spend their money to get exorbitantly priced educations?

Talk about opening a new can of worms!

I haven't thought this through yet and college football may not have either.
