Since Helfrich was not available after the scrimmage on Friday I asked him his impressions of it today after practice. Here is his response:
"The offense got off to a fast start. It was a little sluggish there for a while which unfortunately has become a little bit of a tradition around here. But the guys really bounced back today, a good physical day kind of some give and take on both sides.
"Lots of moving parts from a defensive standpoint. We had a couple guys show up up front; T.J. Daniel did some really good things, A.J. Hotchkins did some really good things. Offensively we had two turnovers that were just silly forced balls trying to make things happen that weren’t there.
"Overall just a ton of learning at this point."
