Interesting how many teams have Co-Defensive Coordinators. I'm kind of wondering if Oregon has brokered a deal with one of the programs to hold off announcing until after signing day. Potential price to pay would be missing out on a few big time recruits this year but you get your guy for the "long haul". Helfrich may also feel his current staff will be able to close on recruits due to their experience in spite of the DC vacancy. Pure unadulterated speculation.

Interestingly, there are 17 FBS schools that have Co-Defensive Coordinators on staff. They are:

1. Bowling Green - Perry Eliano/Marcus White
2. Michigan St - Harlan Barnett/Mike Tressel
3. Ohio St - Luke Fickell/Greg Shiano
4. Kansas - Clint Brown/Kenny Perry
5. Duke - Jim Collins/Jim Knowles
6. Clemson - Marion Hobby/Brent Venables
7. Tulsa - Brian Norwood/Bill Young
8. Houston - Craig Navar/Todd Orlando
9. Connecticut - Vincent Brown/Anthony Poindexter
10. Louisiana Lafayette - Melvin Smith/James Lewis
11. Arizona St - VACANT/Keith Patterson
12. Utah St - Frank Maile/Kendrick Shaver
13. Washington - Pete Kwiatkowski/Jimmy Lake
14. Auburn - Kevin Steele/Wes McGriff
15. Florida - Geoff Collins/Randy Shannon
16. Kentucky - Derrick Ansley/D.J. Elliott
17. Ole Miss - Jason Jones/Dave Wommack

On a side note, I think it makes total sense to go after an Orlando or Kwiatkowski but when you land them their stay might be short, 2-3 years. Thus, bringing in a "Co-Coordinator" as an understudy makes complete sense. Maybe the. DC from NDSU, for example.
