If we move on from MH:
I think that we should look at Gary Patterson who is currently coaching at TCU.
1. Top notch coach that has been in the conversation for Natties for the last few years. He has proven he can handle the big games.
2. Would not have to settle for an unproven assistant.
3. The guy has an explosive offense that would please the Duck fans and would fit in with a lot of the Oregon concepts (spread, speed, etc.) that have become a brand for us.
4. He has done it at a school that does not have all of the support that we have.
5. He can recruit Texas. That's no small deal.
His D is not that great all of the time but he can score points.
I see this as kind of an Altman hire....except that Patterson is probably a bigger fish than Altman was.
We could surely get him for less than $10 mil.
