The article will be up tomorrow. We spent a long time (over an hour) speaking with Sua'ava Poti's parents, his uncle and Poti himself and have parsed together a story that talks about how family has driven much of their life.
His father (also named Sua'ava) is retired US Air Force and his mother is originally from Samoa. This is a very wide ranging and lengthy interview, so I ahve separated into two separate pieces; on this Friday and one next Friday.
They talk a lot about the importance of their culture, about what they think Mario Cristobal is building and why they really love Eugen. There is also a story about a former NFL'er who met and coached Poti during the week - a player who also happens to be a blood uncle. They had never met in person until the Poly Bowl.
The family believe strongly in their faith and talk openly about their life as a military family as well.
Will be up in the morning.
Also, I would be remiss if I did not offer sincere thanks to @TinkerDuck for her immense help. With as much time as we spent talking to Poti and his parents, there was a LOT of stuff to transcribe from digital recorder to this format!
