Today I took my own look back at Altman and what he has done at Oregon....

Thirty-eighth? Thirty ninth? Those were the numbers Dana Altman jokingly referred to as the pecking order that landed on him. While that is a bit of an exaggeration, there is no doubt that Altman was not the first choice of then Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny or just about any Oregon fan queried about the lengthy search.

While Altman may not have been the first choice – one thing seems certain in hindsight – he was the best choice.
