Coach Helfrich posted a pic of a cool logo that I assume is engraved somewhere on a surface of the weight room.
Citius, Altius, Fortius. Translated this motto means: Faster, Higher, Stronger. Although this is the title of a book on how Sport Science is impacting athletic performance, the words were used in the 1928 Olympic Games and were adopted as the motto for the games. The motto is actually owned by The Olympics so hope Oregon hasn't violated any copyright laws.
The three words not only describe the athletes effort to maximize athletic performance but also were intended to express the intangible elements of the moral and intellectual benefits of doing so.
It's no surprise that Oregon has adopted this motto. It also reminds us that recruiting is more than how high, fast or strong an athlete is. The intangibles play an important role in development and performance. Here are a couple articles I found interesting so thought a few others would too.
