Coach just finished his first pre-game presser of the year. I took some notes.
- The Ducks turned their focus to Bowling Green for the first time today. Most of the session was special teams related.
- Their basic practice week for games will be:
- Sunday or Monday - Special Teams
- Tuesday and Wednesday - Full pads "heavy, fully loaded"
- Including work in the deep red zone, which they call the "Gold Zone" (I love it)
- Thursday is "Mental Sweat Day"
- pregame day is "Fast Friday" which I'm sure means just doing run throughs
- "Playing time is really about trust"
- They have not settled in exactly on the offensive line for Game One yet. Lots of moving parts but it does look like true freshman Penei Sewell will start at one tackle or the other.
- Tabari Hines is going to be very good for the Ducks it sounds like. "He’s a really good football player. Starting to get his legs underneath him. He’s a really good teammate."
- Bowling Green has a lot going for it, according to coach Cristobal. They averaged 35 points per game after switching to this QB last season. They have a big OL. They can stretch the field with lots of big play capability. They run the ball effectively. Sounds like the Ducks will have their hands full on Saturday. lol
